WHO: Millenium-Millie-Gryphon AKA Millie AKA Onyx AKA Onyx Art Studios

WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/millenium-millie-gryphon

WHAT: 2 x circus poster style images of my otter shape

WHEN: Claimed slots, provided references and paid on February 14th. Inquired on progress April 10th, got response and first pic on April 16th, which was of a wrong character. After informing the artist of that, she did the second pic, then said she will redraw this one, then delayed past the paypal dispute deadline after which stopped responding to notes (still reading them and taking other commissions).

EXPLAIN: Millie opens these commissions via journals/picture announcements on a regular basis. I took two slots and sent info February 14th, 2017, paid same day.

After no progress for a couple months, I’ve contacted Millie on April 10th to check on the progress, and got a response with one image April 16th. There was one problem with that though, it was a wrong character, which I told her. We have reconfirmed the correct references, and May 7th, I got the second picture. That one was pretty well done. I again informed Millie that the first one was wrong, and also mentioned that it was supposed to go with another picture with the same subject from another artist. I have also requested the picture with the wrong character taken down. She said she will redraw it, then it took a series of delays until paypal dispute deadline has expired (in hindsight, I should have opened it, but her staying in communication and being polite kind of led me astray). After that, she stopped responding to notes while reading them, being active and offering further commissions.

Can you explain this more? Like other people have said, we're having trouble understanding exactly what you mean by a 'completely different character', because your replies have flip-flopped between 'not even the same character' and 'out of character for my character', which are very different things.

If you are unable to read, at least state so instead of saying my replies flip-flopped.

Here's the (SINGLE (!)) paragraph you are saying "flip-flopped":

"She drew a completely different one. I can't link it because as noted, I asked it to be taken down, for it is completely out of character for the bear."

I said that:
1) She drew the bear instead of the otter.

2) That the picture in question (circus performer) is completely out of character for the bear. (Otherwise, I would have not asked her to take the picture down.)
"it is completely out of character for the bear."

How more clearly could it say that?

Please don't be aggressive that way -- I think you could have been a lot more clear and I was very politely asking for more information to clarify what, to me, are incredibly confusing statements.
The second one is the one that makes it so confusing because the two sentences genuinely seem to conflict: was the theme of the picture 'out of character', or was it the wrong design? Because I feel like you've said both, and I can't tell if it's one or the other or *both*.
Also, I assume we would have expected you'd have saved the file, which is why several of us were asking; I think we understood that it was removed from FA.
From your (currently) last post, it does look like the bear and otter are different characters, but from the screenshots provided, the info you gave to the artist was brief and your explanations for what was wrong with the finished product doesn't match up with the info they were given to start with (unless there's more to the notes than what's in the album, that's what I was trying to say). The problem you seem to be describing to the artist is that the first piece wasn't "you", but what you've said here seems to be that but ALSO that "the wrong design was used".
Teekchan voiced my thoughts pretty well actually, and the lengthy reference list isn't an excuse for using the wrong character, I was actually trying to say that if the problem was 'that it was out of character' rather than 'the wrong design entirely' (which I'm still unclear on here since they've been used interchangeably? But they don't mean the same thing) the way the references were presented feels like it would be confusing.

I thought when reading (and now re-reading) this that one of the slots was the bear form, and the other the otter, and the problem was that the theme of the latter wasn't 'in character' for that character. If you could break that down for me, that would be awesome! I'd like to understand what exactly went on.

(Edit: a sentence)

That last bit is so completely out of line.

I agree... If this is the attitude to just you trying to clarify I'd say minor commissioner beware as well.

Yeah. But about as much as you insisting I should have kept it.

I'm just going to freeze this because I see this going nowhere. Everyone please do not needle at eachother or take it to PMs.

Not sure what exactly you edited in your comment, I got the edit notification after I posted the reply.

And yeah, one more note to clarify, the third image mentioned is the otter firewalking drawn by a different artist (before these two were commissioned).
