Advice: Missed detail on a commission

Hey there! I recently commissioned a plush artist and a significant detail of my commissioned character clearly did not make it through to the final product. In all references provided, my character had a collar / accessory. I checked the folder of reference images to make sure it was present, and it was, but when I was shown what I assumed to be two WIP images of the plush, the collar wasn't there. At the time I just figured it was a WIP and was super happy to see progress, only for the artist to post the plush as finished and to ask for the final shipping payment.

I'm not too sure what to do here, actually! I like the plush, but I'm not sure if in this case it's appropriate for me to ask to have the collar added, as I would like it done, or if I should let it slide altogether? If I ask to have the collar added, should I offer to pay an additional cost? Is there a polite way to go about this? I really do like the plush! I would just like my character's final detail added and would rather not create too much trouble.

Thanks for your help!

Be polite and explain you assumed it was a WIP you were shown. Ask for the collar to be added.

It shouldn't be difficult and it shouldn't cause fuss.

That said if it's a generic collar and you don't want to confront them, let it slide and just buy a collar to cut to length yourself.

This! Just ask and tell them you thought it as a WIP. If it was included on the ref sheet, but not actually stated it NEEDS to be there, they may have thought it was optional.

When they respond, they will likely just go 'oops sorry!' and add it. They may have quoted you the price without it and you may have to pay extra.

If they react negatively.... Well you can accept it as is, and post a beware.

But like the above said, if its just a simple red color, you may want to let it slide and just buy one.

Thank you! I'll give that a try. It's a slightly less than generic collar with some fancy embroidery and whatnot, but I do know I can put one together in a pinch if all else fails. c:

I'll try talking to them first, but I'm sure it won't warrant a beware if they don't want to or can't do it. It's one of those smallish things that I think can kind of get lost in translation, I just wasn't too sure if it was appropriate or not to ask about it after the fact.
