Beware: Tahmuz [DA]

WHO: Tahmuz

WHERE: http://tahmuz.deviantart.com

WHAT: Digital Bust commission

WHEN: Nov 27th, 2016 - Present day

On Nov 27th, 2016, I decided to commission this artist. I had been watching them for a while now and had some points to spare, so I bought a slot, as you can see here. Tahmuz always seemed to be polite and kind and always compeleted commission with a consistant quality so I didn't feel suspiscious or anxious about it. Fast forward a couple of weeks, I very politely asked on their profile how my commission was going. I understand that commissions can take a while to complete due to life. All I was wanting was a "yes, Im working on it" or a "No, I havent reached yours on my list yet due to the other slot holders", just something along those lines. I was ignored and more recently my comment was hidden. I dont have a link nor a screen cap of my co
mment due to the fact the comment was hidden.

I didn't think much of it, I thought they simply didn't like those kinds of comments, but later another Deviant who-shall-not-be-named asked me if Tahmuz had answered and if not, then to send a note to them to which I did..  It appeared that none of the people who had commissioned tahmuz for their busts had received their commission nor been able to contact Tahmuz for a refund. There are multiple comments regarding commissions and asking when they would be finished on some of the art in their gallery (too many third-party people for me to link). These people were all ignored but Tahmuz proceeded to reply to comments unrelated to commissions. Eventually on Mar 16th, 2017, I decided to try and send a note to request for a refund. Of course, they didnt reply.

A while later---in response to some journals that people had made, calling them a scammer---Tahmuz uploaded this journal, saying that they did not have the internet to upload. They also mentioned that they always do refunds but to my knowledge, none of those asking for refunds have received one yet. I do not understand why Tahmuz took commissions when they knew they wouldnt be able to upload them.

The most recent activity I have seen from tahmuz is this comment and this image, both uploaded on Jan 12, 2017. The more recent drawings they have uploaded have been personal projects, and though I do not think it is bad to work on personal projects, the fact that they have been working on those rather than working on their todo list is irresponsible. The most recent commission they have finished is from Nov 21st, 2016. They also opened more commissions eventhough their first batch had not been completed yet. Since these updates, Tahmuz seemed to disappear from DA completely from what I could see. They havent answered any comments nor uploaded anything.

I know that 300 points for a commission is not a lot, but that has accumulated over a large group of deviants, some who have even been waiting since the summer of 2016. I apologize for the lengthy post, however I do not wish for more Deviants to be misled like I was.

I must be missing something, but how can they manage to upload a journal defending themselves but not the commissions they owe when they claim they don't have internet? And even if the commissions were on a different device, it's not like you can't email images to yourself?

I'm not defending the artist-- especially since they seem to have uploaded actual art on the same day that they posted their journal (though I guess its possible that they can do pixel art but not shaded art on their phone) --but from my understanding of the journal they are able to access the internet with their phone (via data) but not on their laptop.

I interpreted it that they posted the journal/comments from their phone.

You can't email when you don't have internet, though if they were very concerned that the internet wouldn't get fixed soon they could buy a usb stick and take the images to a public library or something to upload (assuming they have access to one).

... or take the laptop to a free wireless cafe, since its a laptop.

I've also in the past taken pictures of my monitor with my phone to give my commissioners an update (if a gross looking one). So my gut feeling is that the artist has taken on more commissions than they can handle and is trying to buy time, and it just doesn't inspire much confidence when they are acting in such a rude way. That profile comment was really unprofessional. o__o

I agree
At first I thought that I was unlucky and that their wifi had taken a bit of a hit around the time when I commissioned them, but I scrolled through their old journals and they said that their wifi was bad, like, all the time.

There was a also a time (approximately 4 or 5 months after I commissioned them) when I posted a call out journal because the other commissioners and I were getting increasingly concerned. It wasnt a rude journal, honestly I just wrote that I was worried for the artist's health cause I thought that was the reason why they couldnt upload. Tahmuz commented saying that my commission was finished and that they would upload it that day. It was pretty rude too. Tahmuz acted as though I wasnt allowed to know how my com was going.

I deleted that journal later but never received the pic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ive pretty much given up on trying to get my pic from them now

Its always a little suspicious when the artist says they have had your commission finished... but just didn't tell you until right when you decided to ask about it/make a post about it. Too bad you deleted the journal though, since now there's no proof that they said it was complete.

Hopefully they will come through and refund your or give you your headshot eventually. Though I read a comment by the artist in one of their journals saying they had stopped updating their public queue/todo list which isn't a good sign.

Out of curiosity, did they read your refund note and not reply, or was it just left unread? Your entry didn't specify.

Actually according to a reply from the artist to comment the op made on the artist's recent upload she stated that the commission was finished. I'd definitely would screenshot that.

Oh! I just saw that comment right now.
I think it was actually my comment that Tahmuz was replying to, though I cant be 100% sure...

I screenshot it just in case, but it's useless if I dont know who they were replying to

Im still mad at myself for deleting the journal, I dont know why I did it...

I dont know, DA doesn't have that sort of system (to my knowledge) so I dont know if they even saw it :/

Go to your inbox and click on "sent messages". If a message is read the subject line will be in normal font in a black colour. If its unread it will be in bold font in a teal colour :)

To the OP here's something I found interesting. In reply to your comment on Jan 12 she said it was on sta.sh. Now for it to be on sta'ch she would have need to upload it which requires internet. But here's where she shot herself in the foot. If it's on sta.sh all she would need to do is send you the link. So either she's too lazy to sent a link to you or she spouting a bunch on BS and trying to buy time. I'll link caps to both op's comment and the artist's below.

How did you get those screenshots? I believe that was my comment, but Tahmuz hid my comment O.O

I want to save those screenshots just incase, but if my username doesn't show on there then it's not solid proof for my case
