BEWARE: Skylar Young

WHO: Skylar Young on Facebook; I don't know of Furaffinity or any other place she offers her services.

WHERE: https://www.facebook.com/para.dox.7758

WHAT: A fursuit costume piece; four-colored goat tail. There was no set completion time but it was said that the product would be started as soon as money went through, as seen in the screencap.

WHEN: Payment sent December 22, 2014, when it was promised it would be started in four days, when the payment went through. Still relevant now ( March 14th, 2015, at time of posting ).

Discussion of transaction, and me trying to contact them at all. I am Taxi Pony, any mention of her name is blocked out per community rules:: http://i.imgur.com/q4CgoDs.png

Paypal proof of payment:: http://i.imgur.com/gr1W0Re.png

Evidence of her continual activity since commissioning the tail can be seen just by visiting her facebook.

I contacted them on December 22nd as they had made a recent post about being in financial troubles, and knowing they were a local suit maker, I decided to commission them for a tail for one of my suits. The above log shows me commissioning them.

All was good and it was a fine, active conversation for a little bit, then I sent the money and we discussed possible future business ( I was wondering about getting hands and feet for the costume as well ) and then we went our merry ways.

From then on, there was literally no conversation. I sent multiple messages just asking for a response at all, and preferably a picture of the WIP tail ( which, according to her promise, should have been started already ), and despite Facebook confirming that my messages were looked at, there was never any replies. Meanwhile she was posting just as regularly as always on her Facebook, reblogging, so on. I even got a little desperate a few times just to at least be ACKNOWLEDGED and commented on a couple of her posts. I only started getting aggressive once I realized these comments on her posts got deleted afterwards, even those not related to the business.

As of right now there has still been no contact and I have started a paypal claim to get my money back as if she doesn't find her customers important enough to even say hello to then I doubt she finds them important enough to give paid-for product to.

I'll admit I did a bad thing that isn't at all relevant to our business transaction, but I feel like the lack of contact and deleting posts may be related to it -- her boyfriend made an unsavory post that made me really mad and I called him out on it. I've learned since that Skylar is very protective of her boyfriend and anyone who says anything bad about them instantly gets on her naughty list. Again, nothing to do with the business transaction, but it's just further evidence of the lack of professionalism with this maker.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND COMMISSIONING THIS MAKER. She refuses contact with her clients and prefers to work on personal things over commissioned pieces. I know of someone else who posted a beware on her recently as well, so red flags all around. The lack of professionalism should be enough to keep future clients away.

From what I can see, she's banned from FurBuy lol.

DA: http://furchandise.deviantart.com
FA: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/furchandise/ (cleared out profile/inactive)

I don't know if she has "personal" accounts that she's more active on.

Yeah, she got banned from FurBuy, and I think her boyfriend as well through association.

It should be noted that during the approval time of posting this, Skylar finally contacted me. Threatening a paypal claim didn't get her to contact me. Filing it didn't get her to contact me. It was only upon realizing that the claim overdrew her account that she finally replied to my messages, expectedly asking me to drop the claim as she needed food / gas / ect and would refund me on the 20th.

I told her that I took the exact course of action I had told her I would and the only thing she had to do to stop me doing so was to reply to me, and she refused to do so. I refused to drop the claim as if I can't trust her enough to get a reply to my messages, should I really expect her to refund me money on time?

Don't drop that claim! I believe once you close it, you can never reopen it, so you would be at her mercy.

I got informed of this before she requested me drop the claim by a good friend of mine who was helping me make up my mind about whether to file in the first place -- they're a paypal guru and know all the various things and they told me so. Thanks though! I honestly felt a little bad, overdrawing their account, but the more I thought about the more I realized that they did everything in their power to force my hand that direction. Thus I had and still have no intention of dropping the claim.

The claim proves further that they are really bad at communication as its been on the "waiting for their response" stage for several days lol

Don't feel bad. You gave her plenty of opportunity to avoid a claim by simply responding to just one email instead of ignoring you and expecting you to just go away instead of dealing with the problem professionally. She had plenty of warning it was coming, and if it put her in such a bad financial situation, then she should have sent a simple email asking you to give her until the 20th when she'd have the money to reimburse you, instead of ignoring you and acting surprised when Paypal took the money by force.

If her account is overdrawn, it's nobody's fault but her own. You did everything you could do, and she chose to ignore you, so this is her problem. Bed, made, lie.

Wow. Spending money for work which was not done and being surprised that due to ignorance a client takes steps to take it back... Why respect her needs if she ignored and did not respect yours?

I am sorry you experienced this and that you felt guilty. Hope it will be cleared for you soon!

She owes quite a bit of people fursuit work. Hopefully they come here and voice their sides.

That's unfortunate you have to go through this. D:

Hope it's resolved.

You are more than welcomed to make a post to the community as this submission is rather old.
