A bit of a dilemma

I'm not really sure where to start... Ok, I've been taking commissions since October of '04 and for the most part I only accept commissions when I'm working at conventions. I do my best to get them done at cons so I don't have to take them home and complete them (this has become increasingly difficult recently, unfortunately). Last year I accepted a commission at a con (Anthrocon, I believe) which I have been unable to do any work on.

When the roof of our St. Louis house collapsed and we made a hasty move down to Georgia to live near my mate's family, the commission sheet seemed to have been lost in the moving (along with $200+ other items). I have no clue how to go about finding this person other than hoping that they might be at this upcoming Anthrocon.

So I was hoping someone might have the vaguest clue who this could be. He gave me a sheet of paper that led to his webpage - which is apparently a site where he stores a bunch of stories within a world/universe he has created. He commissions artists to read his stories and do a piece of work inspired by the writing - whether it be character sketches, illustrations, maps, etc. If anyone has any clue who this is, I would be very grateful because I'm at my wits end trying to figure out what to do. I hate leaving commissions unfinished, even if I sometimes take a long time to get them done, and I am really unhappy at the prospect of someone complaining because I couldn't do their piece.

I've discovered that the person I've been looking for is Gushi. Thanks very much to everyone for helping me figure things out. I'm immensely grateful! =^.^=

It sounds like Moldred to me. Does that ring a bell?

Also, I'm in GA too. xD So many weird coincedences.

Really? Heh. That is a coincidence. Do you have problems with mistaken identity too? I have so many people who mistake me for you - it happened three times at Morphicon.

Unfortunately, I never had a chance to look at the webpage, but I'm going to contact Moldred and ask him if he was the one who commissioned me.

Yeah, people are always like "Heyyy Growly! Remember that time you and me went to x?" and I'll just be like "Err... no?" ^_^;
And some guy once AIMed me thinking I was doing a commission for him. :O

At least our names aren't generic things like Neko or Spirit Wolf... I think there's like 5 of each in the fandom. Now THAT would be confusing.

*snickers* That's very true. I had a horrible thought cross my mind that we should make a portfolio just because it would confuse people. "By Growly and...Growly"?!

Bahahaha! I like the way your mind works. xD
It would include an info sheet on how to tell the difference between us. "Things to Look For"

That sounds like a good idea to me. It might actually help people identify us. From what I've seen our styles aren't really very similar at all. You're going to be at FWA this upcoming year, right?

Yesh! I'm getting a table in the Dealer's Den. :D
Jun. 4th, 2006 01:32 am (UTC)
Me too. ^.^ That's gonna be a fun con! I'm going to have to keep a log of all the times I get mistaken for you when we've both got Dealers' Tables.
Jun. 4th, 2006 01:32 am (UTC)
Haha, so nuts. It would be even nuttier if our tables were next to each other. :O

Don't tempt fate! It might happen that way.

Hehe xD

I agree, that really does sound like Moldred.

He is not hard to find.

Is that it?
Either way, good luck.

I sent Moldred an email, but it doesn't seem like he's the right person - nothing he's mentioned rings a bell and he doesn't remember ever commissioning me. I also checked out Goldfur's page and that one definitely isn't clicking. I don't think taurs were ever mentioned to me... Who are some of the other people? And I think I will go and check out the AnthroCon community...

You may be thinking of gushi? He owns gushi.org and does hosting for a lot of furs. He also has a story about a raccoon, and I think he was encouraging artists at one of the cons last year to do art of this character in his story. Ring any bells? Gushi himself has a white ferret fursona.

PS: Here is the link to the info about what I mentioned. I hope that helps? It kind of sounds like Gushi to me, but I'm sure other people do the same thing in the fandom. Having artists read stories and illustrate whatever comes to mind. Anyway, good luck.

Yes! That's it. I recognize the first few sentances. ^.^ Great. I can do the art and email him the pictures. Then if he's at AC, I can go ahead and give him the originals. Thanks everyone for helping me out!

*grins big* Awesome, I'm totally glad I could help. :3
Hmm, that reminds me.. I owe Gushi some art myself. XP Nice guy.
