Beware: FurryFapChap/CheeryLuna

WHO: FurryFapChap/CheeryLuna

WHERE: http://furryfapchap.deviantart.com/

WHAT: A 6-page NSFW comic.

WHEN: First contact April 9th, Commission canceled May 18th.

PROOF: PP transactions showing original date of invoice, More detailed view of the request, showing date when I sent a reminder.

EXPLAIN: Read from the bottom to the top in each image.
Shows the dates of his notes to me.

I was contacted to make a short comic. I agreed to it and gave pricing. I figured I would be able to get a little bit more money if I could sell the slots for the two "random girl" characters since their identities didn't matter to FCC. I gave FCC a discount to do this and would sell of the slots for pretty cheap, but I would still be making an extra $40 so it would work out for everyone.

Since I didn't know how long it would take to sell the slots, I said that he didn't have to pay until that happened. It took about 12 days to sell them both, but I did and those people paid right away. I sent an invoice on the 19th to FCC. I let him know, sent the roughed pages and several days later sent a reminder through PayPal.

I've learned my lesson in the past about doing comic work before being paid, so I wasn't going to continue work until he paid. A few days later the request had still not been paid, so I sent a DA note reminding him. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that if for whatever reason he didn't get the request to send it to me directly. To which he responded that that is what he had already done (for some reason ignoring the request sent to his email address?) and got a receipt (which I wasn't shown).

At this point, I am sure I was being strung along, but gave it a couple of days anyway. Three days later and still nothing. Since it is all on his end at the moment, I said it was up to him to contact PayPal and see what happened. If he paid with his card, then where did the money get sent? PayPal should know about this kind of error.

He said he'd call them and straighten it out, but it has since been 12 days and I am tired of waiting. Not to mention that the other two people sent their payments in on the 18th and 19th of April and I don't want them to wait forever. I don't like having projects hanging over my head. I decided to send FCC a note canceling his slot and also canceled the unpaid invoice.

Were you not shown proof of his transaction? I have had a small handful of commissioners attempt to scam me by saying they paid but Paypal 'must have messed up because they sent it for sure', but wouldn't provide me receipts.

Another option is that, he may have typoed the email (Still odd he would ignore the invoice). When they happens, the money is sent, but in a limbo state of some sort waiting to be claimed by the false address.
I have had people forget the '.' in my email and this happens. They can cancel it on their end right away with no issues.

Nope, he didn't show me the proof and now he is ignoring me. At first, I thought he may have (for whatever reason, ignored the money request email that I sent via PayPal) sent it manually by typing in my email address, which is why I brought that up to him and said that he should check his PP log to see that my email was correct and reiterated it in the same message. That was in screenshot #5.

I really just get the vibe that he never intended to pay me at all... especially now that he is ignoring me.

Yeah, if he failed to provide proof, it seems likely he never intended to pay. Hopefully someone can take up his slot!

This person also contacted me for a commission over e-mail. I wasn't aware what their DA was at the time as our correspondence was completely through that.

We work out the details, they get a quote and I let them know that I'll get started as soon as I received payment.

I never did, so I dropped it. A month later, they were pestering me about a WIP. I reminded them one more time about payment, and they wanted results in less than a 24 hour period.

I told them that due to circumstances, I could have a sketch ready in 48 hours once they paid.
It's been a couple weeks since then and I'm not holding my breath.

And they wanted something similar where other characters were depicted. I was also considering giving them a discount and doing a YCH like you had, but I'm glad I didn't do that now! O.O

I hope you can get this worked out. They were difficult to talk to and typically didn't even give me a sentence in a response. =/

Edited for spelling/grammar.

Yeah, in my DA correspondence with him, he seemed eager to get the finished pages as they were ready... but I wouldn't work on them any further until I was paid in full.

I sent them a note (which is still unread) 18 hours ago stating that since I haven't heard from him in nearly two weeks I've decided to cancel his slot. I canceled the money request (and let it email him saying it was canceled) and I've already found someone who may want to take over the spot.

It seems I'm not the only one
I had a similar experience with this person.

CheeryLuna won a slot on a previous YCH of mine
(NSFW WARNING)-- https://www.furaffinity.net/view/13131140/

and after sending me his ref, I also told him I'd start after payment was sent... He insisted and insisted it was sent, but obviously nothing showed up.
So after two or three attempts I asked instead for his paypal so I could send an invoice, but after I did, communication dropped & the invoice was never accepted.

What a giant lose of time and money, now that at the end I was not able to sell that slot. I'd say, beware of this person. It seems that it's an habit of him, probably as an attempt to get free art?

proof is here.

Re: It seems I'm not the only one
Sounds very plausible. Also, looks like his FA page is disabled now.

She managed to get art of of my without paying sadly.
Commissioned me in stream and i started drawing while they were supposedly sending payment. Made the excuse that since it was coming from a credit union that it may be delayed. They sent me a (doctored) screenshot of payment sent so I passed on the final image. Shortly after their FA page was disabled.

I use a credit union. Works just the same as a bank with the same delays (or lack thereof).

Lesson learned. A watch has been given out to all the streamers on Tigerdile to keep an eye out for this person.

Just a note to you and everyone else: If there is any issue where the funds will be on hold before it gets to your account, Paypal will always show it in your incoming transactions but with a "hold" on it. There will never not be a reason why someone sent you funds and it doesn't show in your account immediately after. Barring any misspelled email addresses, but that will show up as "unclaimed" on the sender's end.

I had this happen ONCE. Fiance was sending me money to pull from the ATM for rent and was with me, I saw the transaction confirmation on his end. It didn't show up in mine after like half an hour.

But we called Paypal and they credited my (the recipient) account with the total, and when the payment from Fiance went through into my account, they just took it back. :T So even when shit like that happens Paypal has ways around it to help.

I had this once as well and it was a big worry because it was the first time I had seen something like that! It was happening when I was streaming so I got really worried. But the transaction was still there, even if the money wasn't there yet.

Kind of wonder if it's the same guy who tried this with me on Taps; Discussed a commission, said they'd send money, didn't, asked for WIP, then disappeared when they realized they weren't getting free art. The second time around I blocked them and they left a public message trying to shame me for not taking their commission when they said they wanted to pay €5 in terms.

Edit: Whoops! I didn't read this properly and gave out the email publicly by mistake.
Sorry that I deleted this but I really messed up on this one. I should really have my coffee before getting on the computer. x.x
