Bella Goodell [resubmit]

EDIT 2 [09/12/2017: Four years after this event, Bella has contacted me today to apologize & make up for her past mistakes as a child. She has sent me the total amount of money that I lost in the chargebacks ($105) as "friends & family" so there is no concern of a future chargeback. I consider this beware to be resolved.

WHO: Bella Goodell
I have done lots of searching, but as far as I can tell, she does not have a Furaffinity [furaffinity found] or Deviantart account, or any way of identifying her other than her real name and her emails. That is why they are here. The real name is important to identify her, even though I understand that real names are not usually posted on Artist Beware. It is also important because she changes account names so frequently.

WHERE: Email.
Known Aliases:
Ponytail_Puller on Instagram [private]
Corgi-Fox on Furaffinity
EDIT: Now changed her name to "ChihuahuaWearingSombrero" on Instagram

I find it likely that she has more. Later half of the email removed by request, if it is needed I can add it back in. 2nd half of the emails are also blacked out in all screenshots.

WHAT: Two digital character references.

WHEN: October 11th 2013 – November 7th 2013

SUMMARY: I was commissioned for 2 character references and later found out that the customer is 13. One month later, she files chargebacks despite being satisfied with the commissions. Customer also uses many email aliases, and at one point tried to commission me under a separate alias (that I now know is her, thanks to the Paypal emails). Customer is unable or unwilling to cancel the chargebacks, Paypal has given the money back to her rather than me, as well as an extra $40 fee. In all, I lost $105 on this, and I’m looking for advice as well as to warn anyone not to work with this individual.

PROOF: All Screenshots can be found here: http://neonslushie.imgur.com/all/

EXPLAIN: Bella Goodell contacted me for a reference commission on October 11th this past month. She followed directions, paid promptly, and I had her reference completed and emailed to her on the 13th. While I do not have the emails from her saying she liked it and was satisfied, she did indeed like the commission. I have all other correspondence with her posted in the screen shot. First Reference Commission - Tango

Several days later, on the 19th, she contacts me for a second character reference. Again, she pays quickly and I am able to get it finished and sent to her a few days later, on the 24th. Again, she is happy with the commission! Second Reference Commission - Cascade

However, here’s where things start to get tricky. Halfway through working on the second reference, I find out that she is 13.
I should have gone with my gut feeling and refunded her money at this point, but the commission was already halfway done, and everything had gone smoothly previously. So the commission is sent out and she is happy.

But it gets weirder. The very same day I had sent out her 2nd finished character sheet, I get an email from her under one of her side-emails.

Correspondence: http://i.imgur.com/xfCiBhC.jpg
Proof that it is her: http://i.imgur.com/0Ic7sPY.jpg

At the time, I did not know it was her. She did not wind up commissioning me this time, but I feel it is important to take note of, as it shows she is sneaky and tries to get around things. I have no idea why she tried to commission me through a side email, but I will be keeping an eye out for her now, and you should too!
Anyways, back to the chargebacks. I got them several weeks after finishing her commissions, with no warning or correspondence beforehand.

2: http://i.imgur.com/0Ic7sPY.jpg

Both of them popped up on November 7th, she had not contacted me previously. I immediately emailed her…  My correspondence with her was confusing at best. I will just leave the describing to the screen caps.

So basically she dances around my questions and does not really answer them, and has given me permission to auction off her characters? Do you think that is wise to do? I have lost a lot of money on this and need to make it back somehow, so I am considering it.

Anyways, after all of this went down, I decided I would no longer be accepting commissions from minors, unless I get permission from their parents. I added a section to my Terms of Service on my website:

All customers must be at least 18 years of age before sending any payments. If under 18, a parent or guardian must contact me before I can accept a commission.

I also added a “Year of Birth” box on my commission form. Since adding these, I have gotten one commission from a minor and it went smoothly, I was able to get a parent to contact me and give permission.

However, I do ask for some advice. What’s stopping some kid from lying about their age? Is there any way I can “scare” them into either telling the truth or not commissioning me? I asked my parents these questions and we came to the conclusion that while we can’t stop them from lying, at least we will have proof that they lied if their parents get them in trouble, contact me, or file a chargeback. But anyways yes, looking for any advice if you have it.

After presenting all of my proof to paypal, paypal sided with Bella rather than me, because the references are not “tangible items”. The $30 and $35 were sent back to Bella… but for each transaction her credit card took an additional $20 as a “service fee”. I am very upset about this because I am now out $105 and there is nothing I can do.

At this point I am just looking to get the word out there that Bella Goodell is not someone you should accept a commission from. There is nothing stopping her from doing this to other people.

Please let me know if there are any questions or if there is any more information you would like me to fill in.

EDIT: As of December 2nd, she has contacted me through her FA Account, offering to pay me back, but telling me to keep the characters up for sale. She also asked me to remove the Beware: http://i.imgur.com/k4GGFhm.jpg

I told her no, I am not comfortable with accepting money from her any more, especially since I currently have the characters up for sale. It is important to note that she now has a Furaffinity account. Beware of Corgi-Fox on FA.

Oh wow, around the same time this girl did something similar to me, she won an auction for a fullsuit from me, paid immediately, I bought the supplies and started on it. Then filed a chargeback on me and I lost the $1,100. Even though I have way more than enough proof... I do believe now that she used a parent's card because it was filed as an "unauthorized payment" through the credit card company, not paypal. I've been keeping this updated on my FA (FarisBatwan) - i've now resorted to having to resell it to take care of bills and my negative paypal balance before it's forwarded. She put me into a huge financial rut and this has been REALLY stressing me out.

So now i'm out of $1,100, being harassed by paypal to resolve the negative 815 dollar balance and being threatened that it will be sent to collections. Already. This only happened around 2 weeks ago. (the opening of the case that is. It was closed not even a week ago.)

Anyways, i'm in the process of writing up my own A_B of this girl and apparently (though i don't believe it's true) PayPal has recontaced her CC company about this and reopened the claim. I'll be sure to let them know she's actually 13 and most likely using a parent's card...at least they can stop her from doing this if anything.

Holy shit!! I had no idea she was doing this to anyone else! PLEASE make a beware!
Was the character one of the ones I made for her? I just am so astounded. I really hope you can do something about this.
Nov. 24th, 2013 05:28 pm (UTC)
Nope! I was selling a premade Fennekin head and she wanted to turn it into a full, bid the amount for the fullsuit, paid right away...week later i'm slammed with the chargeback.

Paypal said there's nothing I can do, and now they're on me about paying them back. I did howver give them info about your thing here and they forwarded the info to the fraud dept. and are investigating her, and if they find she IS a child and using someone's bank/card, she will be perma banned from paypal to stop her from doing this from anyone else...so..I guess I at least stopped her, but now my credit is going to get so screwed if I don't pay this off by Wednesday, which I don't know if that will happen!

I am definitely going to make an A_B when I have the chance, I have more than enough screencaps and proof.

OH! I wanted to add this as well - she goes by "scribbled" on FurBuy, that's the name she used to bid on my head as well as another fullsuit auction. I did notify that seller of what that girl did to me and thankfully the user had her bids removed by FurBuy so she couldnt screw them out of over 2 grand. I was sure to leave her a negative feedback warning people!

Watch out for this girl! I'm sure she's in the process of doing this to more people and she seems to be really ballsy lately with the amounts of money she is spending.

I also want to note everything she did to you is similar she did to me! The commenting on my instagram, actually she wouldn't give me a reason why she did the chargeback, only "things got messed up" - ??, and no response after that.

She also asked me, "if I send you money can you send it to someone else? my paypal is acting weird!" I'm assuming it was supposed to be to you.

I definitely have to get a thing together here because everything that happened is so similar - and weird. I'm sorry she did this to you, so infuriating. >:|

I was wondering about that "Scribbled" buyer. I saw them on top buyer of several auctions so it wasn't just your Fennekin she bid upon. I wonder about a couple of the other sales then as I think she won a few others that I've seen reposted since...
Nov. 26th, 2013 12:29 am (UTC)
You are correct. 2 of those auctions I was winning before she topped the bids in the 400s-1000s. All I did after that was warn the sellers about her once I saw this post come up and tell them to leave a negative feedback. But I think she may be gone from FurBuy now.
Nov. 26th, 2013 09:26 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I saw her bidding on stuff and warned as many people as I could - I know the one auction she was running up she was bidding it up over 2k. That seller contacted furbuy and had her bids removed. I was sure to leave her a negative feedback warning people. I also reported her and had anyone else report her as welll.

She is suspended from furbuy and hopefully her paypal will be banned as well as I have notified them too that she is a child using a parent's card and doing this to lots of people.

Ooooh, that stinks! Can I pick your brain about this, though? Someone did this to me too recently.. sort of :(

OK, in my case I took a 30%, nonrefundable deposit. Then I went to bed. When I woke up my inbox had emails like "please refund me, please", and (from PP) something about a fraud chargeback (?!), then from the client "lol nevermind, it's okay now". To my understanding... their partner didn't approve of the transaction and logged into their PP to fail a false fraud claim, but then the couple worked it out and wanted me to go ahead with the commission as planned. I hadn't had time to take the money out, so from PP I selected the option "I will refund them" and did so, and then immediately cut contact with them on principle.

Initially I thought it was a minor annoyance not really worthy of an A_B because nothing bad actually came of it but like... you're in the hole for a LOT of money and I'm wondering how that happened? Was it because you took the money out thinking that everything was peachy, bought some materials with it and they go blindsided by a full chargeback with no way to pay it all back? If that's the case, I think I may make an A_B after all.... that's a really stinky thing to do to someone and I only got off clean because I was lucky >: [

Edit: a word

Yes, I am initially out of the $1,100, but being as I only bought supplies to complete the rest of the suit, there was money in my paypal still so the negative balance wasn't *that* bad but still around $800 worth of damage. Being as how she paid right away and was excited about it, I thought I was fine yes.
But then the notes from people to beware of her came and started to scare me a little, even then, I was like okay, she already paid I think i'm alright......well I wasn't haha.

In the end though I still am out $1,100, for the supplies, and for the work I already did on it. I did already start on it, so even if it's labor, I still consider it losing money. After all, time is money, and she took that from me.

Thankfully I managed to resell it - well awaiting payment but the buyer seems excited - though I will be writing an A_B about Bella eventually when I can get around to doing it. I'm really happy you didn't end up in this situation!
