Advice needed

Okay, I'm leaving names out of this until I know what to do, but lets to a long story short version.

June 22: I see a fursuit item on furbid I would like to by, it ends in a few hours, and no one has bid yet. I message the maker to ask if it doesn't sell could I grab it privately. An hour passes, still no bids and I go, whatever and set a bid and end up winning.

June 23: I get an email from the maker responding to me question about buying them privately, you know how much would I be willing to buy it for, when could I pay, shipping details. ( Mind you I also won the action, this should have been my first red flag. ) I receive no email in response to my winning the auction.

June 24: I respond telling the maker I was the winning bidder, and I wanted to know if there was any fur matching the item and it they were willing to sell it, I also send the winning bid amount to their paypal. We go back and forth a few times, they have two yards of matching fur, also did I pay shipping. No I only paid the amount the auction listed how much is shipping, 20, okay sent.

June 25: Agreed to pay 25 for the extra fur.

June 26: Payment sent.

June 27: Night, asked if shipped, response 'No, housing problem, will send asap' No worries, hope everything alright

June 28-30 : No contact

July 1: I email to check in for an update. Nothing in return.

July 2: Email again and let the maker know I'm getting nervous. Response: Sorry was sick and car is broke do to vapor lock, will ship as soon as things cool down. I respond to please keep in contact, I've been screwed over before and lack of contact make me twitchy.

July 8: I email ' Its been six days and still no contact, please ship tomorrow or I'm doing a charge back. And I will need a tracking number '

July 9: Get res ponce Sorry didn't see messages until just now, waiting until 10-12 for a friend to come over, they have a car will ship then. Will give tracking number.

July 11: I asked if they shipped yet, get a yes response, but no tracking number. So I asked for the tracking number and still no response. Only I know the fa account and they have been online all day.

What do I do here? How long do I wait to get the package? How long do I wait for the tracking number? Should I have asked for a return after the first excuse?

The second reason I'm worried about this is this maker already has two post here about them. I didn't know that at time of payment, but its making me even more nervous. I'm leaving names at at this point of time simply to avoid drama.

This is a toughie. My comment is coming from personal experience on a flub that I made as a novice seller. I promised tracking, but they were out of the country. No tracking was available, so I had given them a scan of the receipt bearing the zip code the item was being shipped to.

Can they provide you with said receipt?

Another alternative is perhaps the last ditch effort and not everyone may agree with me. Open a dispute a few days before your 45 day mark. If the item comes in after your money has been returned, then feel free to send payment again. Don't just do this without letting the seller know. Consider this very carefully, though, as it isn't the most polite of plans. I personally would only do this if and only if the seller has had a very bad history here on A_B. One that makes me believe that they really didn't send the item at all.

Well, if you PP the money you have 45 days to dispute which it looks like is still plenty of time from what I can gather.
Credit cards can be even longer, depending on what you used.

If you know where it's coming from, I'd say try and figure out an estimated shipping time based off the location and give it that period of time plus a couple of days. But don't let it go over the 45.

Best of luck!

Have you read this person's other posts here? Were they resolved? Just being posted here isn't necessarily a problem, some people get posted and come through in the end. I do have to say that the way they're acting now is a little bit of a red flag though.

If they're not responding to you, I personally would send a polite letter explaining that you're a little bit worried, and that if you don't get a working tracking number/the package doesn't arrive by the end of the 45 day paypal window, you'll be filling a dispute. An *honest* seller might still be a little upset, but should understand why you'd want to do such a thing and will work with you. A scammer will probably cause some drama, but which would you rather have, some drama and a refund, or no drama and nothing else either?

After filing the dispute they'll still have *lots* of time to respond and ship the item if they haven't already, it won't immediately take the money from them or anything like that. So if they come through with their end, you can dismiss the dispute and no harm done.

Here's what I would do:

Demand proof of shipment one last time. You always get a receipt when you ship, even if you don't get a tracking#. I would be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait longer (but not past the dispute window) if the seller was able to provide me with scan of the cash register receipt. Speaking from experience, this one time the post office promised the shipping method I chose came with a "tracking number" but they lied and it was so awkward telling the client this-- the item got there fine but since I'd promised one I bet it looked really fishy.

If they waffle or don't respond, it sounds like they never sent it and maybe never will. Give them an ultimatum that allows a few days for them to have time to read your message and carry it out before issuing a chargeback.

Either way, don't miss your chargeback window. The item is already made, it is not that hard to put something in a box and send it and/or find a lift to the post office.

Once you have some form of closure you should post an actual beware as they appear to at best be unprofessional and at worst a scammer, either way people would appreciate the warning.

Alright a few quick things. Since I posted this I have still had very little contact with the seller. We've been going back and forth about the tracking number. According to them they shipped via ups but can't find the tracking number via the receipts. I ask if they could just send me a picture and I'll find it myself. No response, and that was days ago.

Mind you once again I know they've been online, because they've posted to FA a few times. Last journal actually an apology to people waiting for shipments, some things about the car vapor-lock that that they would ship late this week / early next. Mind in the comments many people were claiming shipping had been promised much earlier in the month.

When it comes to being posted here, they've been posted two or three times, one got resolved after a very long dispute and the other I'm not sure about, but as I read the comments, over customers of theirs popped up with more complaints.

Wouldn't have bought it, if I had known this a head of time.

Also I did email them an explain my frustrations in a very polite manner, it was after they had requested the extra days to ship.

I know exactly who you're talking about and I very much hope they get back to you, their reputation should be in the hole by now. :s
I feel they should have sent you the tracking number same day, I can't figure out how they could have lost it so quickly or else they're just buying time and haven't shipped it.

I say do what others have suggested and an ultimatum; prepare to get in contact with paypal for a charge back or dispute.

After reading the old A_B and FD_2 post about this person I'm honestly surprised they are still selling things! But then again, look at me, typically I research before I buy, but the one time I didn't...Also, they're not claiming they've lost the tracking number, but rather they can't find it on the receipt.

It's not your fault either way though.

My mistake, well then they should just scan the whole thing and show you. I should say though, whenever I ship something out and ask for a tracking number they always circle it for me to find and tell me "This is the tracking number".

There's an FD_2 post about them? Mind if I see the link? You can PM me if you don't want to post it here.

For future reference do not ask to see drama-community related posts, or share info about the person in question. This is an advice post, not a beware. Not an official warning, but a gentle reminder.

Sorry about that, I wasn't aware that was a rule, totally my bad.

Does that also go for beware posts? I only ask because you mentioned this wasn't a beware post.

In beware posts, the party in question is named and discussed openly. being this is for advice only, we'd like to keep things more anonymous until the OP decides to make a fully fledged beware. =)

If they say they've shipped it out, and it's been more than a week, and you're both in the same country, then just file the PP dispute.

Parcel mail by USPS takes two weeks max., and UPS Ground is 7 days max across the US.

You're better off filing NOW and then paying them back when you receive it, than waiting too long and missing your chance to file. :/

7 business days yes?

Edit*

Actually I take that back, they either 'shipped' Wednesday or Thursday, UPS. Meaning I should have it today or tomorrow at the latest. I'm going to give it until Friday to get here, because stuff does happen. After that I'll file.

I'd inform the buyer of that as well.

"If I don't receive my item in the mail by Friday I will be filing a paypal dispute due to lack of evidence that the item was even shipped to begin with. If I do receive my item I will send payment immediately, but please understand my stance."

Or something like that. I hope it works out for you OP. I kind of have an idae who this is, but i'll reserve my judgement.

Yep, business days, not including Saturday.

I hope this works out for you.

I'm pretty sure I know who you're talking about, I had/have similar problems. She said she shipped out a head, but gave no tracking info (we had agreed on tracking/delivery confirmation). I asked a few times about if she had the tracking and was ignored; it wasn't until I saw everything on here and other LJ comms that I broke down and honestly told her that I saw these posts and would like to have confirmation or evidence that she had shipped it out, whether a number, receipt, whatever. Finally got a tracking number. Yet after reading everything I wonder if it is even for my stuff, but I'll give her a chance. So, it might be bad advice, but be persistent.

From your angle, if she has not responded or there is no evidence anything has been shipped, I would go ahead and open a paypal dispute and be done with it.

edit: just realized I'm a bit late to the game with this.
