WHO: FlyingFire is her user name and her first name is Carrie.

WHAT: Traditional 2 character Sketch.

WHEN: I commissioned her in August. 40.00 for down payment I gave her all the information she needed to get on a rough sketch.  Due date was Dec. Granted I've been busy but I've checked on her every now and again but I think I got back to talking about it in Nov or early Dec I told her I was fine with delaying the due date to Jan.  She was asking about the final 40.00 which I paid the final on Dec. 9th  Update 07/10: please read below.
PROOF: *Please Note for your convenience I did copy the notes into font. Please do know that often Flying fire would respond out of order, like I was working top down and her conversation was working bottom up, so kind like the universe expanding opposite directions. Just so you know, so I won't hurt everyone's eyes and brains. ~Thank you*
Any number of those make good ideas! (sorry it took me so long to reply btw! I was gone. :c ) My Paypal is ___
. Add me on Skype and we can chat vocally, and you can even watch the progress as it goes along!

Okay, I'm game! ^.^ I remember you from Morphicon! You and your nice owly friend. You were both super nice and it was fun to see you. ^.^ Also, yes. It'd be eighty dollars. Incremental pay is just fine, just so you know. Do you have refs, and also, do you have skype? That way maybe we can talk as I draw things out for you and Arctic.
Did you know I know Artic? I'm not sure what happened but we stopped talking a few years ago. Its been a long time, but it'd be great to do something nice for her. (and you too, of course) :)

What kind of theme would this be? Or would that be artistic freedom?
Well I want to commission an art piece 2 character of me and my best friend Artic.  Now the Deadline would be December since I plan for it to be a birthday gift from me to her.   I'm guessing it be around 80.00?   I mean I know my character has a lot of details and hers she gets kind of picky.  I do know she does have a variety of badges.  I think your art would be one she would like.

So I tend to like feral/quad, and her most recent reference is of a quad/feral Artic. If your interested in drawing please let me know.  I can pay half now and then the other half when I get  rough sketch/regular drawing approved.  Since I know that be easiest way for me to pay since it is a lot of money and I don't want a birthday gift to be finished before I can approve of the drawing done.  This is a piece I hope you have plenty of time to work on at your own pace.  I'm hoping December is a far enough time away.

That be great, my user name for Skype not like caps matter. I sure do, have references.

http://www.furaffinity.net/full/7782892/ I need to re do it since the tail is off. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5257642/ this is how the last band is suppose to be its wraps around to the bottom but it doesn't connect underneath. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6448079/ Like this explains the details best its just outdated as far as the tail and the fact everyone who goes by this gets the stripes wrong because its good way to map where the stripes are but people have put dots on my stripes and made them very much like connect the dots.  But I plan on getting another reference done.  I'm just been rather slow about it.  ;_; because I'm a busy/lazy cat.

http://www.furaffinity.net/full/8431740/ Artics most recent info.  http://www.furaffinity.net/full/8229703/ this is colored something this hopefully will give you and idea of how to shade things. This is her old reference http://www.furaffinity.net/full/1372053/  Its colored too.  I think that covers it.  I will try to make myself available on Skype.

As for ideas,
*SIDE NOTE: Just so you know I had spoke with her and said that reference I provided for the feral would be fine.   As for  the stripe issue I had a reference that did not work so well because the stripes were in the right position but they made the stripes look funny so I never got people to do my stripes like normal, right position but weird stripes.

Well, that was unnecessary, and it would have taken you two extra seconds to send me an actual note instead of a page shout. However, despite your doubts, as quoted here: Give me my money back. You did not provide me my sketch days, weeks, over a month of saying your weak excuses. You stole money from me, by not providing the service you agreed to. heres your sketch.  As I said before, its done and has been done for awhile. I had to deal with that thing called real life, taking my cat to the vet to make sure she didn't have cancer amongst them, so yeah, I was preoccupied. This is partially why I forgot to link you your art, but you should Never send a note to someone, or a shout, when your that irrational.
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8383/8452908686_75698d75af_z.jpg You can have this until I receive an apology for such rash words, whereupon I'll send you the full re-res image.
I'm not being irrational, you are horrifically late.   Honestly I've given you over a week to get to me on this. You had not taken the extra 2 to 3 seconds to link me this information.  I am not apologizing to you. I told you I'd like to have some pre-sketch for me to confirm at least progress and maybe throw in my 2 cents.  Regardless of you circumstances you have been absolutely poor at communicating properly.  Now I told you I need to have proof by last Sunday at least...I have not seen anything until I've given you this shout. When a time is set I expect something to be done, or at least a note back to say as to why there is a delay.  Frankly I've been waiting on some proof that you've done anything, So it is not irrational for me to suspect you are not true to your words as we've had this discussion before.
I've been dealing with a thing called life like everybody else.  I have 2 jobs, and I work to pay off my condo/townhouse.  I know a lot about due dates, with college and bills and if something comes up I try to work something out but you expect me to pay for sketch and then I don't see anything for like a month?  I wonder who sounds like they are being irrational now?   You know I have bad days but at least I communicate with my boss and those who need to know and let them know if something will be delayed.
I'm sure you understand that there's a lot of difference between being busy personally, and busy with business, and I was busy with both. I can understand your business just fine, but you need to know remember that there is a difference. Also, you paid the fourty as a half payment. Thats why I hadn't started. My policy is generally to get full payment and then begin.
Irregardless to this roundabout we seem to be having, is this sketch to your liking, or is it not? Let me know when you have a minute to sit back and look at whats been done. Here is the large file.
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8383/8452908686_f79f42a2c7_k.jpg

*Side note: I was up late that night and had not slept so well this last week. Which that and also having someone say I'm being irrational started what some furries call "Tiny Tora Rage."   Which may I say that all my anger is pretty legit, maybe a little fluffed...but I am the person to burn bridges if I find that it leads me to no where I want to be. She had mentioned her cat for the first time to me, I know I saw something posted in her journal 2 months prior, so granted I know people can have emotional issues...but I feel if that is the case it is the artist's obligation to mention that they will need some time out.  I can't take in consideration for something I do not know of, all she had mentioned prior is she was busy.  Which is what I had been hearing for some time.

FlyingFire Feb 7th(2)

Now for the Cherry on top the art I've been waiting for b/c after I yelled at her on her wall...I got this.
Also, the sprinkles on top would be that she and posted this on FA saying Artic and I are Mates.  Which I do understand where someone might get that, but I had told her beforehand that we were best friends. We have matching icons, we are giving each other a head bump, not kisses.  So even though some people think we are a couple, unfortunately that is not the case, we just joke about it profusely.  In reality we both are pretty heterosexual,  even though I'm bi-sexual, I do have a boyfriend.  I Do Apologize for any confusion on this matter.  I know I've not disclaimed my status of relationship to others.

I may have not stayed on track with this artist through every step but honestly I think more artist prefer people not to get with them on daily basis. I did remind them in a journal prior which I think that is when they brought up the 40.00 final that was in Nov.  I still feel if you did not provide any proof of art done you are stealing from the buyer.  This person is on the same level of scam artist as far as I'm concerned.

Updated Feb. 10th, 2013   Flying Fire got back to me shortly after the shout I mad on her FA account.  Basically I was angry she had not provided and I had figured some public attention would get her attention and maybe create some results, which it did.  I have provided proof of 95% of our conversations.  I feel the other 5% is non-important as it doesn't really say much.  I've not replied back to her as frankly I don't feel this art is really worth 80.00 but with her cat going to the vet. I really doubt I will get the 40 back.

Looking back at her tag, http://artists-beware.livejournal.com/tag/artist-flyingfire , it seems this may be typical behavior for the artist. I hope she sees this and gets back to you! I think you've waited ample time without a single shred of evidence that she's worked on it.

I'd give her a firm deadline for a refund, due to missing the last art deadline, and tell her you're planning on contacting paypal for it if she declines to work with you.

Keep us posted as to what happens. Good luck!

How did you pay? Consider a chargeback if you used a credit card, and if through paypal I'd report her at this point; it looks like it's past the 45 day mark but maybe it's close enough they'll do something still.
Feb. 7th, 2013 09:57 pm (UTC)
Yeah I can't get a discrepency b/c I gave her too long of a time span last payment was on Dec 9th...and its been over 45 days.
Feb. 8th, 2013 03:54 am (UTC)
You chargeback on your bank/card, with Paypal you open a dispute.
Feb. 10th, 2013 07:14 am (UTC)
Oh I think I understand I am going to try at least for the last 40 of the 80...since I feel that is fair since the artwork as I've provided the example is well not 80 worth of work.

Also, scanner not working is a poor excuse of not offering proof. She can't use her phone? Or a camera? No, this of course wouldn't look great, but it does show proof.
Hell, I've used a phone to contact a costumer after I lost internet and couldn't stream the finish of his commission. I was taking pictures of the monitor... if she really wanted to show you, there are several ways.

Yeesh, I remember you talking about this at the Christmas party. I can't believe that hasn't delivered yet :/
Feb. 7th, 2013 06:16 pm (UTC)
I've had her guilt me into raising the price after some commissions were placed (said her boyfriend was going to be angry if she didn't double the price) and then nothing ever come of it. I never got the work (from several years ago now) but it wasn't enough money for me to make a fuss over. I simply haven't touched her again, myself.
Feb. 7th, 2013 06:21 pm (UTC)
wowowow that's inexcusable :/ you NEVER ever pressure a customer into raising a price from what the original quote/listed price was.

beware well warranted!
Feb. 7th, 2013 09:45 pm (UTC)
I have a buddy who had an artist friend tell him he had this amazing idea to draw in his sketchbook and he needed it right away.
Then he colored it.
And promptly informed my friend that it would be $60.
And the art was not great and the coloring job was pretty awful...
Needless to say that hasn't happened since.

Pressured you into raising the price? Wow... That is not a good idea to do so. Definitely a beware.

I find it strange that she just posted the work within 12 hours of this journal, but couldn't do so beforehand.

http://www.furaffinity.net/full/9871455/ if you're curious.

I did do a trade with her back in 2007 and only got a rough sketch in return. Like Prismaticsilver, I didn't feel like fussing over it.
Feb. 7th, 2013 10:01 pm (UTC)
Yeah By the way every one she did post reply to me with the image...which personally I'm still annoyed I had to take it to this level to get her to do anything. She said I was being irrational I am to never post notes or shouts when I'm being irrational. She also yelled me for not taking 2-3 seconds to post her a note, because apparently she "forgot" to link me the image even though I gave her the final due date which It was Satureday or Sunday? I am not apologizing to her. Even though she demanded one of me.
Feb. 7th, 2013 10:24 pm (UTC)
It might be a good idea to add these final notes to the end of the post via an edit.
Feb. 7th, 2013 10:59 pm (UTC)
I agree, if you are willing, you can paste those notes here. It sounds like her attitude is beware worthy on it's own!
Feb. 8th, 2013 12:03 am (UTC)
Hey babe. I would edit your post to add this as well as a screenshot if you're up for it. Not everyone reads the comments c:

i know her personally.. my friends are friends with her and she's pretty flaky in real life as well imo. This doesn't surprise me that she's doing this.
Feb. 8th, 2013 04:17 am (UTC)
I had an issue with her a good while ago (some time back in 2011). I bought an adoptable from her (which was to be done to my specifications), and she never delivered. When I asked her how it was going, she insisted that I needed to give her my Skype and watch her draw it. Because of my limited access to a computer at the time, I was unable to do that and told her so and instead noted her my very few requests for the character.

I never heard back from her after she gave me the okay, and by the time I remembered that I was waiting on that from her, it had been way too long. I'd post a Beware of my own (and thought about that awhile back), but all notes are long gone.

Please know since yesterday I've had work and cell acess only to the web. I'm not going on FA at work. It is too risky for me. I will provide uodated. Screen captures.
Feb. 11th, 2013 11:00 am (UTC)
Oh dear, her again. I know a couple of people who've had problems with her and gave up after a year and a half of trying to get her to draw their art. $5 wasn't really worth the hassle, but beware solidified.

Paid Flyingfire 200$ for a character reference commission early in 2013. Three body postures and a mugshot. She did just under half the work in 4 months, and basically never touched on it again. The artist constantly demanded undivided attention during the process of working on the art even when said attention was unnecessary for progress, constantly made excuses for her lack of finishing the project, and eventually became distant and difficult to get a hold of. She always had a sob story or some excuse as to why she had not progressed upon the work, let alone finish it, and she only explained herself after I had become so impatient with her that I told her I no longer wanted the work done.

Don't believe anything this lady says. She thrives on the ability to excuse her lack of a work ethic or organized effort to get commissions done, and she constantly takes on more commissions without finishing the work owed to previous commissioners. In addition to this, her FA page now has a pink italicized warning that explains that she will not allow paid commissioners to discuss details of the commission on her FA journal entries or in her shout box, and that such a thing will basically be taken as an offending remark to be deleted. You don't really get any more shifty than that. She's a scam artist and she knows it.
