Beware/lost contact: aylastardragon

WHO: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/aylastardragon/

WHERE: On Furaffinity, through their page.

WHAT: A realistic icon.

WHEN: Oct. 9-now

PROOF: Redacted paypal receipt:

Initial discussion, shows time frame expected: http://imageshack.us/f/263/aylanote1.png/

Request for progress after about three weeks, I did a stupid and put my initial question in the wrong place in the note, my query for a progress report is outlined in green, Ayla's response is below the initial estimate for completion.

EXPLAIN: I saw a user on another site with an icon I adored, so I asked them where they got it from. I was referred to Ayla, and promptly went to Ayla's page and asked if they were open for commissions, and what that would fall under. Ayla responded within 24 hours with the price and their paypal info, so I sent the money right over (I added an extra dollar to cover the fees as a kind gesture). I asked for an estimate of completion time, and was given a time frame of about two weeks. Three weeks went by with no contact, so I poked the artist again asking for an update. I was told they were in the process of moving, but they would try to get it done asap. Another three weeks have passed, I've heard nothing further from the artist, and the window for filing a paypal dispute is just shy of passing, so I opened a dispute. I'd be less upset if I'd been contacted even once to be informed there would be a delay. I know life happens, but the courtesy of a heads-up would have gone a long way.

I will update with any new info as it comes in.

EDIT: Since submitting this, I've gotten a response from them and have been shown a sketch.

EDIT 11/29: Icon received, dispute closed, I consider this completely resolved.
Artist's beware has moved!
Do NOT repost your old bewares. They are being archived.

Did you attempt to contact the artist at all after the note you sent them three weeks ago, or inform them that you would be opening a dispute?

I did, I sent one asking for a status update, and then checked the time limit and realized I couldn't wait to file one so I sent another letting them know. This post was delayed a few days (understandably) between submitting and approval, and they have since contacted me.

Did you happen to see this? http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6910291/

It was in her scraps, from two days ago.
Have you been able to contact her?

This post got delayed in being approved for a few days (understandably) and in that time she posted that and contacted me. I've no ill will, I like it so far, and I hope I can mark this resolved fairly quickly.

I have to say I feel like you posted this beware a little too hastily. I understand your fear about losing your money, but please be more careful in the future.

If your post is still in the queue, you can message any (or all) of the mods and we would be happy to either delete the post, or have you edit it.

I feel like once I have to file a paypal dispute, that makes a beware relevant. Besides, I was told two weeks, and it's been 7 1/2, with no "hey, it's going to take longer than planned". Also, I didn't get any progress updates or WIP shots until I filed the dispute and posted here.

Either way, I've finally gotten my icon, so if I could get a resolved tag I'd appreciate it.
