Update with Starfinder/Christina Penescu

I wanted to give a quick update regarding the issue I had with Starfinder/Astray/Kannos/Christina Penescu, previously posted two months ago here.

I updated that post saying that she had contacted me shortly after posting here, informing me that she'll send it out at the end of that week. This would have been the first or second week of December, latest. I haven't received it, so I sent her an e-mail asking about the matter (as instructed on her FA page, under the username Astray) two weeks ago, and then a note on FA five days ago. She hasn't opened by note and all her galleries on FA or DA haven't been touched. However, she's updated her Facebook page since, the latest update being January 26th. So, she has internet access.

I just wanted to say that the issue has not been resolved, and I doubt it'll ever be.

And please, since it was a problem last time, nobody contact her or her employers about the matter. I'm posting this here so that the community and others know to stay away from her (as if there wasn't ample reason already), not to make her life difficult. She'll do that herself.

That wasn't Astray?

o.0 It was? Someone asked me if I called an artist's place of work but I wasn't sure who the person was talking about.

Yeah, I think it was. I read the journal and I'm pretty sure I remember seeing the big toothy dog icon which belongs to Astray.

Are you sure about that? I remember investigating her and only found she's been doing freelance/self-employed art related work for the past 10 years. Unless she has a job at Micky D's which she isn't telling anyone about.

That could be the case, but it was definitely one of the chronic offenders.

She said it to me in her reply via FA note. Quote: "...a's it caused people to attack my real world fine art life, including a publisher. I'm not in a terrible situation and may be out thousands of dollars if my contract gets f***ed."

She has stuff on a wild life art site that is "juried" to get in.

The owners of the site were contacted about her inability to follow through on promised/paid art work. Which is very much against the rules.

It doesn't seem that she has lost the contract with the company at this point nor does it seem that she has sold much through that venue either.

I have a feeling that her chestbeating about what she lost is rather inflated considering how the site works.

pardon my ignorance, what is a juried art site?
Feb. 1st, 2011 04:57 pm (UTC)
It's like a juried art show. There is a panel of professionals with some cache in the field who decided if your art work is good enough for their gallery be it a physical gallery or a web site or a show.

It means that artists are only allowed on by jury, like a board of trustees.

It's like artistic American Idol.

As others have said, it's anything that requires the work be judged and thereby accepted/rejected by editors/peers/artists. Sorta like American idol except each piece of artwork is judged for a place not the person doing it.

Noteable online examples are: Epilogue and Elfwood, quite frankly though both are not the best since epilogue's long outdated site build and moderator issues (some of their mods have actively harassed users and gotten away with it) and Elfwood's legendary lengthy waiting list for approval (Epilogues can randomly be just as bad).

There's also Conceptart which has galleries attached to which they only allow a small select few to upload work.

Astray is Starfinder.

I know. Sorry, I was using the names interchangeably because I think we know them all anyway.
