Everyone welcome hamburger, and Proxy Posts

Since kayla_la, oceandezignz, and puppetmaker40 joined us almost a year ago, our community has continued to get busier and busier. I take that as an indication that we as a community our doing our job well! We are becoming better known as a place to warn of unprofessional behavior, to ask for and receive excellent advice, and to get recommendations for some wonderful artists and customers.

Thus, due to this increased traffic, I'd like to welcome hamburger as an additional moderator here on artists_beware! Though tempting, there will be no devouring the new mod! Don't make us put it in the community rules!!

And please continue to spread the word about artists_beware; the more people who know about the community, the better it functions!

Proxy posts:

We moderators have decided to cease approving posts by proxy. What that means is, if your friend had a bad experience with an artist or commissioner, but doesn't have a LiveJournal account, you cannot make a post 'for them'. We will make rare exceptions on a case-by-case basis, but only with proof of the transaction.

LiveJournal accounts are free, and membership in Artists_Beware is no longer moderated. Requiring the involved party to make the post will enable/encourage them to interact directly with people commenting in the post, and make them responsible for the post's content.

One question: What if you are posting a group complaint and you are part of the group?

Example: Artist1 has ripped off User1, User2, and User3 in three unrelated commissions. Only User1 has an LJ account, so all three pool together evidence and User1 posts for themself, User2 and User3 in one big post.

Would that be posting by proxy still?

I would recommend each user make a separate post about their own dealings with said artist. This would help prevent confusion as to time-lines, specifics, and who said what to whom. Even though all three people have been ripped off, their interactions with the artist may not necessarily be identical.

May be irritating to have to make an LJ account, but it will keep things organized in the long run.

EDIT: This answer goes to this specific example. There may be situations with different circumstances which merit a 'group post'. These would fall under the 'case-by-case basis' heading.
