Monthly Positive Review post!

Just in time for the holidays! I'm sure there will be lots of people commissioning artwork for gifts or just to celebrate the season. Let's give them some recommendations for artists who would make these gifts fantastic. Conversely, I'm sure artists are pretty busy with requests, and it will be nice to know which commissioners are so great to work with that it'll put a smile on their face.

If you've had a great commission experience, either as an artist or a customer, please comment here and spread the word. It doesn't have to be a full-on story, though you're welcome to type one! All we need are a few lines on why this person was so great to work with. You can also recommend companies, such as printers or fursuit-making teams.

There are plenty of reasons to post someone here: perhaps they went above and beyond the call of duty to fix a problem, or were so prompt with communication and payment it was like having them right next to you, or were very professional and courteous every time you contacted them.

To help keep things organized, please follow this simple form:
Subject line: Name of person/company you recommend
1. Name of the person/company you recommend.
2. Link to their website or art page.
3. Approximate time period of when you did business with them.
4. Details (Here's where you tell us why they are so awesome! What made the transaction go so well? Perhaps link to the art or suit you bought/sold if you feel like sharing. Please mark NSFW if the subject matter is adult!!)

If you have multiple people to recommend, please put them in separate comments so everyone has their own spotlight.

Missmonster!
1. Missmonster, aka Melita Curphy.

2. http://www.missmonster.com/
or, directly to her Bigcartel store: http://missmonster.bigcartel.com/ (which is where she sells most of her stuff)

3. Ever since I discovered her, July of 2009 I believe.

4. She is absolutely phenomenal. She responds to e-mails within a few days max, a pleasure to work with, and a lot of her work is so unique. The only thing to keep in mind is she is just one person and she makes everything by hand - so some items take a few weeks to make. She posts the wait times for each item in their description on her store; some are in bulk and are ready to ship, others are not.
But overall, her communication has been the best I've ever seen out of any artist I've commissioned, and she's always honored her commitments. I've bought hundreds of dollars worth of stuff & commissions from her by now & about a dozen items, and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon.
Her style may not to be everybody's taste, but if it is, you won't be let down, I swear. I cannot express how much I've been impressed & respect I have for this woman.

I'll post a picture soon of some of the stuff I've bought from her!

Re: Missmonster!
Yes! I've mostly bought merch from her table and one toe-tag commission at a con, but she's always been great to talk to and the toetag was done quickly and looked great!

Here's just some of the stuff I've bought from her (the pictures really don't do the pieces justice, either):

Re: Missmonster!
I commissioned a special doll from her in..September or August, and she was amazing. Fast, courteous, and very helpful since I had never ordered overseas before. Adding my positive review to this one, I couldn't have asked for someone nicer. :D

I'd post photos of what I ordered but for some reason LJ is being a butt. I'll see if I can get one later.

Re: Missmonster!

i will second that, Melly is fantastic to work with! she really came through with my best friend's christmas gift last year.

i have an almost 5 year old commission from her now... but at least she's kept me updated on it. thats more than most artists would do.

3. Received within the same week I paid for them!
4. She is fast, professional, and the pieces were great! Her prices are absolutely amazing for what she does.

These particular pieces were $10 a pop.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND, if you need a good horse artist!

4. Drel commissioned myself and strider_orion for a joint commission. Drel gave us lots of artistic freedom, responded nearly immediately to each email, and paid right away. I would definitely do another commission for him. (In fact, we are!)

Her work wreaks of STYLE and PIZAZZ. I mean just look at that. She's super nice and works at a good pace. Plus her work is affordable! I'd totally commission her again.

1. ~Lass-Samantha on dA
2. Here!
3. 20th-23rd of November (this year)
4. I commissioned her for a last-minute birthday present for my sister. Really last-minute. I pretty much needed it done in about a week :D;; She told me she could do it, though, and totally followed through. She communicated quickly even though I did not (class kept getting in the way of our convos) and actually started it as soon as I confirmed what I wanted - and had it done by the time I payed her two days later, so she could ship it in plenty of time :3 And it's adorable!

She's also underselling herself. She was only going to charge me $20 for that, including shipping and handling. It's very well-made and soft :3

4. He ordered a character sheet from me last month. Very friendly and excellent communication! He was from Germany so he needed both an English version and a German version of the character sheet, I don't speak a work of German so he worked with me to come up with the German translation as well as gave input to make it a model sheet that worked best for his character!

3. July 2010
4. Kappy approached me for a slot on a special I was offering at the time; she was very flexible, prompt with payment and communication. She's super friendly and patient and because she is also an artist she works great as a commissioner on feedbackt etc. Very much recommend.

Commissioner- Renix

1. Renix
2. http://www.furaffinity.net/user/renix
3. November 2010, has commissioned 4 times between '09 and present.
4. Last commissioned a two character flat color. Renix is super creative with situations and usually has a few to pick from so you can choose the one you're most comfortable/interested in doing. He's patient, easy to reach for communication and payment. He's very clear with details, but leaves wiggleroom for artist interpretation. Super recommended :)

Four folks I recommend.
1. Mary Minch / Mary Mouse
2. http://www.furaffinity.net/user/marymouse
3. March 2010 and October 2009
4. Awesome person to talk to and excellent turn around time. I love her inking work and sense of color.
*March 2010: A small color illustration of my rodent character, Chilly, as a chef making sushi. It was displayed as part of signage at Furry Connection North 2010.
*October 2009: I had Mary ink a back to back layout for a badge that I later colored and assembled.

I was impressed that both commissions were done within two days. If you catch Mary at an event, drop her a line.

1. Yote/Tikky
2. 2. http://www.furaffinity.net/user/tikky
3. July 2010, June 2010, August 2009
4. Overall, easy to talk to and nice overall. I had the following projects made:
*August 2009: Very quick turn around on a digital convention badge of my skunk character, Edmund.
*August 2009: Foam head structure for a project for Hobbes. She was easy to work with, good communication, did any requested edits, and it arrived safe and sound. Her turn around time is excellent.
*June 2010: Foam head structure for a project for Huge Wolf. She was easy to work with, good communication, did any requested edits, and it arrived safe and sound. Her turn around time is excellent.
*July 2010: Worked on a front and back reversable image of my husky character, Anita. She's very quick, and I was happy and impressed getting to watch her stream it live.

1. Brian Reynolds
2. http://toonfox.artspots.com
3. Various (2001 - 2010)
4. An awesome artist and animator I've had the pleasure of knowing for nearly a decade. We periodically get to trade pictures, and his work is beautiful. Some of his Art Jam submissions can be viewed as part of the current Funday PawPet Show intro. Please check him out and drop him a line if you see him at an event. Particularly if you love planes, aerospace, and ferrets.

1. Tracy Reynolds / Cali Cougar
2. http://calicougar.deviantart.com
3. July 2008
4. An awesome artist and animator I've also had the pleasure of knowing for nearly a decade. I commissioned a beautiful animated icon of Edmund that I still use today. There is also a larger flash version. Drop her a line at an event if you see Tracy.

1. Erin Middendorf / Dingbat
2. http://www.furaffinity.net/user/dingbat
3. November 2008
4. I really dig Erin's work. I commissioned Erin for a badge sized illustration of my skunk character, Edmund. I requested it during MFF, and she gave me the badge the following day. The color and line work is beautiful, and she's also an awesome gal in general. Go commission her for pottery, pictures, and just awesome stuff.

Please check these guys out.

2: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/strawberryneko (commissions posted here: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/nekocomissions )
3: December 4th.
4: Alright. Aside from the icons (see LJ pic here) she cranked out for $10 being wicked fast (an hour) and cool... and aside from being this kinda awesome at a young age... I just gotta recommend her for her adamant adherence to the goddamn rules, particularly Paypal's. Like many others on this list would probably be, she was quite blunt in her insistance that commissioners should use the purchase tab and not the personal tab, which impresses me as a commissioner. This kind of mental maturity out of someone young enough to be unable to view adult-marked images on FA should be rewarded, please go commission her!
