This is to explain that the user cyocyo has been permanently banned from artists_beware for impersonating an artist and writing posts in their stead without permission. As a result, all of their posts have been deleted out of respect to the actual artist, but I have provided screenshots below (from oldest to newest) of the posts they had up. The last one includes comments that outed the user as being an impostor.

Needless to say, impersonating people is a nono.

Hopefully the real artist will join AB. I just do not understand why anyone would want to impersonate someone, that's a lot of effort for someone to go to.

I have to ask, what actual evidence is there of an impersonation?

And you mean that CyoCyo the LJ User was impersonating CyoCyo the artists?

I have to admit, I counter CyoCyo on IRC before she ever posted here and... She had some 'interesting stories' of people who were out to get her that sounded rather improbable. Claiming she's being impersonated when it's actually her herself doesn't sound like a stretch.

well, she claimed to me that she had not posted these and that there was a history of a user who had impersonated her before in terms of accepting commissions.

She says she complains openly in chatrooms and such and that this impersonator took it upon themselves to post the bewares.

Part of me believes her and part of me doesn't, I'm still somewhat on the fence, but since it's apparently happened before it's not too unlikely I'd suppose.

By chatrooms do you mean IRC? It'd be worth to DNS her and give that IP address to Kayla_la to compare to the IP's that posted under CyoCyo and see if they are indeed very distinct.

I hope this doesn't get me modded, but what kind of a ... person... takes the time to impersonate someone else for the hell of it? Sheesh...

If it's the one Cyocyo's grumbling about on her FA page, then the impostor has been taking money for commissions, in Cyocyo's name, and when they don't produce the goods, Cyocyo's been taking the flack when people want their money back.

Or CyoCyo took money, didn't make squat, then blamed a fictional Boogyman who was impersonating her.

She has YEARS of history of telling wild stories afterall.

I'm just asking to see some proof that this is CERTIANLY a seperate person.

Simply put, there isn't any. There's no proof of either circumstances. But the simple fact is, no matter which is the case, they aren't going to be welcome in the community. They're either an impersonator or a liar, and we don't want either here. So I'm not sure what you're fighting for. You might want to contact cyocyo personally to ask for proof instead of asking for it here where we obviously can't give it.

I would rather err on the side of caution, which is what I did in this case.

You have to admit that it's strange that this 'impersonator' made the CyoCyo account way almost three YEARS ago afterall and the posts on this community only popped up around the summer time.

Anyway, do you have the IP that CyoCyo used to post? I'm not asking for it but asking if given something to compare it to, if you'd then look into it.

You can actually see her IP on the bottom in her comment in this screenshot: http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/1281/artistsbewarebenjidekug.png

The whole thing is strange, but I still have to do what I think is best, thus I got rid of her posts.

Hmm... That's an OLD Ip Address from July 2009 so I'm unsure how reliable it is. However 72.51.152.237 is apparently an IP address located in Murray, Kentucky and it's owned by New Wave Communications.

From ooooooold logs that I have on IRC, Cyo also used an IP on New Wave Communications.

"Cyo is ~mikaylaro@host-24-100-1-143.newwavecomm.net"

This Cyo from my IRC logs also generated art on request in Cyo's style and used her old 'Cyo' FA account. Though any FA links she posted in those logs have seen been deleted.

In Googling around, CyoCyo -is- indeed from Kentucky, so that IP from the 2009 posts are from the same state and IP?

http://www.elance.com/s/cyocyo/ This puts her in Murray, Kentucky, the same IP as her 'Imposter' but also where SHE lives?

Currently Furnet has a Cyo nick registered since August of this year with a Bellsouth IP of 74.177.47.250

I don't suppose the IP from that most recent post can be had to compare it to what IRC currently puts as her IP?

Anyway, I think it was right to remove her posts but I think that you've been had here. She's impersonating herself most likely.

No, we only get the IP when a person comments, and she hadn't been commenting on the last couple posts, so we don't have a more 'recent' one.

One thing to take into consideration is that it could be a real life friend. I'm not saying ZOMG YOU'RE WRONG so much as that we don't have any real way to be SURE.

If it is the same person and not an impersonator, I hope she gets help, because that's very strange behaviour that should be looked into by a professional. I'm just not ready to jump on the bandwagon and say she's lying for sure.

Yeah, I'm not willing to say it's 100% but it seems more likely at this point than there actually being an impersonator. And like I said, she's known to have a 'wild imagination' to put it politely.

Oh, I don't doubt that at all, the whole thing is verrry suspicious, I was just hypothesising along the lines of why someone might "take the time to impersonate someone else for the hell of it".

I don't know, but it happens. When I first joined DA in 2004 I found out some stranger had been on there impersonating me for four months prior. They had posted over 250 of my pieces, copied every single one of my LJ entries onto DA's journal feature, and they were talking to and criting artwork as me. Once I showed up they deleted everything and left while accusing me of being a thief. It was creepy as hell.

I don't know the artist in question, but looking from the outside in, I'd say it's a cry for attention and she's playing out both roles as the 'victim' and the 'impersonator'.

Some people are just really zealous. Reading the other comments about "why would anyone take the time to do that", it does happen. I read that another user got impersonated, and I did myself too. It is an issue I am currently dealing with.

You piss off the wrong person, even without intention (say they disagree with your views on something such as happened to me), they can get very feuded against you. And it's sad that people have so much time to spend to doing that. Alot of it can be motivated by jealousy too.

The person that I am currently dealing with who is trying to "bring me down" got mad because I was getting more commissions than her, and she didn't like my views on certain social issues that I wrote about in my old journal.

It creeps me out. This girl knows every little commission, piece of artwork, and craft that I have ever made, who I have sold it to, the price of it, and who bought it.

Then they took a piece of artwork I did, posted it in an LJ community with over 10,000 members and claimed to be me by copying and pasting some things I wrote in my real journal while adding some really nasty stuff to make it look like *I* was really nasty and horrible.

I just wish people like that would use their time to be productive with their own life rather than mine, especially if this all has to do with them being mad that they want commissions (since before this all started, said-person claimed I would never get any where with my art).

Thankyou to whomever messaged me about this situation.
I apologize for the inconvenience. =/
If the mod will talk to me here I'd be more than happy to clear anything up that needs doing.
If the "CyoCyo" here has messaged you and you've bought art from them, contact me at Sigmoidal@FA or CyoCyo@FA with documentation and I'll do my best to do something to repair the hurt and damage.

I run my mouth a lot, which I shouldn't. I am a crass bitch but I don't throw things out unsupported, in fact I generally despise forums in favor of IM or Chat.

Any information that can help me get definitive proof of what this gal is doing is most appreciated.

cyocyo PMed me earlier today to insist that you (the original artist) were a liar. However, when I responded asking why they never tended to respond to questions asked by other users in their artists_beware posts, they never replied.

Overall, there's not much we can do here. You can see the person's IP in one of the screenshots, but that is all we can really provide for you, I'm afraid. You can however launch a complaint with Livejournal itself about being impersonated.

Live journal is disconcerned at best about the situation.

She's not pretending to be ME, i.e. my player, but an online screen name which can easily be mixed up.
Based on the i.p. i gathered, its more than likely whom i was suspicious of.

Weren't there more than 4 posts from this person? I specifically remember posting on one or two of those, and none of the ones listed up there I see a comment.
I'm just kind of confused why anyone would make this sort of time and effort over something that has nothing to do with them, but then I guess I stay mostly busy with things concerning my own life, so the concept of being so obsessed with someone else's seems a little crazy to me...

If there were, they already deleted them before I got to them. I used the new 'search by user' for posts feature so it brought up every post they'd made.
