I am posting this on behalf of Dipper. She does not have a LJ account, and she has had a negative experience with Starfinder.

In November of 09 Starfinder delivered one of her pay on delivery commissions to Dipper. Unfortunately, it was not what Dipper had ordered. She had ordered her character done as an anthro, and Starfinder delivered her character as a feral.

Dipper told Starfinder that is not what she wanted, and Starfinder said she would correct the mistake. At this point, Starfinder asked for payment for the first so that she can "pay for bills". Dipper paid her, but she admits that it was because she was afraid Starfinder was not going to do the corrections without it, or that Starfinder would bad mouth her in her gallery.

Dipper never heard from Starfinder again.

Below the cut are emails between Dipper and Starfinder. All images are SFW.

Here is the image that Starfinder turned over to Dipper.

This so SO freakign amazing..But oh god I hope I do not sound like such a bitch, but I sent images a long with it ...to refer to an anthro char..

here is the email and what it said. I feel so bad for this and I think the link was overlooked to portray the character with the hair and bandage as said in my desc. I will go ahead and pay for the previous one, but do you think you could do the one in my email as well?

Sorry for the hassle, I really hate coming off as unsatisfied (which I am not) This was just an important character of mine for my story and I needed a better image of him

This is my character, there isnt much color but i will tell you what it is. His name and everything is on the page.

The markings on his neck glow a bit.
the cape around him is a dark red color, scarlet.
The band around his head scarlet as well. The metal band around his head is golden with emerald gems.
The metal band around his chest is golden and very light red tassels that you see.
You can follow this picture below for the coloring.
Also there is a bio on him, about his personality and age (41)

Aack, the image showed color refs in non-anthro, and it showed anthro as well, so I wasn't sure and I went with the non-anthro since the refs for those were finished in color and I assumed they were more current. I'll see about doing a second one as soon as I can. I mostly opened up for these two busts since I have some emergency car-repair bills that I needed to pay for ASAP, but I'll see what I can do for a second one. For the future though, if you have both anthro and non antho refs it's always good to specify which one you would like because otherwise I'll probably default to whichever reference is more 'finished' and clear. :/

Yea, just the two references below were specified in saying "You can follow this picture below for the coloring." and I gave a lot of detail in describing the first link in reference to all the things on his head, the bandage which the last two images did not have... so I thought you knew :[ sorry about that, but I thought I was being specific. But no worries I can wait. Don't trouble yourself :/

Sorry about that! I'll try to get out to it as soon as possible, although I ask, can the first one be paid for since I did these with the intent of paying off some bills which need to be handled ASAP :/

Thank you hun I really appreciate it. I was afraid of something bad happening and I admire you so much as an artist and you know I always love receiving your art. I have no problem paying right now. I cant wait to see the second one.

After that Starfinder hasn't responded to her. Dipper is writing this off as a loss, but she does want others to know that Starfinder is still managing to not deliver her pay on delivery items correctly, either.

ETA: Dipper also wanted me to add that she paid around $35.

Meep! Never assume, always ask even if you feel like you're asking a stupid question. That's too bad she never fixed it, has he poked her recently about it?

Witchie Bunny is keeping an eye out for stuff like this. Hopefully, Star will get banned finally.

I'm feeling uncomfortable over the language Star is using in these emails.

"I'll see what I can do for a second one."
Maybe it's just me, but that sounds kind of vague and unpromising. I would feel more assured if she had said something to the effect of "I will create a new one for you once I take care of x-obligation".

"although I ask, can the first one be paid for..." Surely she isn't expecting that Dipper pay her for correcting the mistake she made in the first place? I would think that if she weren't expecting payment for a second one, she would just ask "Could I have my payment now, please?" instead of asking for payment on the "first one".

I'm probably reading too much into this, but it was a big question that popped into my mind.

TBH, given Starfinder's history, I doubt she ever intended to fix or redo. She probably asked for Dipper's money so she can take it and run.

To be fair, given the original email if it were me doing the drawing I would have been confused as to the anthro/non anthro-ness as well, since there were references to both.

But yes she should have corrected the mistake, it seems like it would be an easy fix since its just a headshot to just include some accessories and eyebrows to indicate anthro-ness.

To be fair, I don't see starfinder definitely agreeing to fix the image in these emails - I see her saying she'll try to do a second commission (probably expecting pay), and/or maybe she realized pay might not be in the offing and thus won't do it.

To be not-so-fair, she probably preferred the feral cuz it's easier to find an image to shoop :P

Wasn't it supposed to be a bust shot? That isn't a bust shot, I'd be asking her why when paid for a bust shot she delivered a head shot. Bust shot's usually include shoulders and part of the chest.

Regardless of whether the client was unclear Star still did not deliver what was paid for in terms of commission.

As for her excuses, the anthro ones are actually less clear and I knew the first image showed an anthro. I've worked from worse images, including one that was so dark I thought that the character was female and had to completely redraw it.

It honestly looks to me like Star was only interested in the cash and not only didn't pay attention to what was ordered but literally threw something together with a minimal effort just to get paid.

Honestly, Star/etc is very well-known for being a scammer. She has scammed hundreds of people out of who knows how much money, and because her art is so popular and high-quality, websites are slow to ban her. I would not assume she will do anything for you. I was polite and patient with her for two years after pre-paying for her to send me a print of a piece she had already completed, and I have now given up on it. Hopefully she will be banned sometime soon, so she will stop so blatantly abusing her clientele.

Would you consider noting Witchiebunny on FA with that info? She's collecting info on Star to take to the other admins and I think she'd be interested to hear that.
