UPDATE: Beware, beware, beware...

Update: Received first part of the refund. :)

This is my first post on here so if I need to provide more information I can easily do that, I'll start by saying this if you ever hear of a fursuit auctionist by the name of Sonartoo, Spiritwolven, or I'm sure she's got more. Her real name is Jynell Harrell, STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE!!!! I've got 70 some odd emails back and forth with her, so sit back and let me relate my long horrible story.

April 6, 2009
Surfing Furbuy I notice a commission for a partial/full fursuit, and having the money I was like "OH HELL YES!" I emailed the auctioneer saying I had the money in hand if she would do the commission for me, she emailed me back and said she most definitely would, and of course said that she wouldn't send the suit unless I paid for shipping and handling of course, like most of auctions go. So we talk back and forth, she says she could end the auction and we get information exchanged. Next day I send her the money, she states in that email after the money is sent, that she won't start on it till after anthrocon 2009. The Auction was for a $500 partial, paid her in full via money order. I asked her what information she was needing, she stated in her next email that she needed measurements for the suit, as well as a outline of my hand, to which I mailed. She once again said it would be after anthrocon before she'd start on it and I'd see it around mid to late october, just before halloween to be exact.

June 23, 2009
I emailed her stating that I had moved into an apartment from my previous place of residence, I got an email back from her the next day stating "i am sorry but i have lost all of your measurement issue in a yahoo mail and computer fail bot. Along with your reference sheet. I was gonna start work on your suit this week and noticed this. If you would please resend me all of the information that would be great" so this being my first time, was like 'eh I can understand that I just had to reformat my computer too, virus's and what not happen all the time' I sent her a copy of the original email as well as a copy of the character sheet and waited.

October 30, 2009
I send her a message saying that I hadn't seen anything in the mail and just wanted to verify 100% sure that she had my home address down correct thinking maybe it got held up in the mail, since apparently some of my mail had been going to my previous residence. I get an email back that bugged me, it read "you are the otter right. just making sure. cause i am working for two matts right now. after my move both of you are next on my list for suits to be made. sorry for the delay. but we are moving unexpectedly. that's what i get for still living with my folks i guess." so I tried to be a little patient since I'm not sure how long it takes to make a suit, I give her more time, but ask "have a possible date when the commission can be finished by?" I get this reply "i will try to have it finished late december early january. hopefully this move won't mess me up to much" so I'm like 'ok so it'll be finished by early january at the latest, thats just in time for Furry Fiesta! YES! my first con and I'll have a suit that looks awesome :D yay me!'

December 25,2009
I emailed her asking how things were going and to wish her a merry christmas, I have my fingers crossed the whole time thinking its gonna be done and I'll have my suit....

January 5, 2009
Emailed her a second time, still no reply back just yet. Starting to get a bit anxious now.

January 5, 2009 9:53 PM
I'm pissed when I read my next email from her it reads "i hope to be starting work sometime this month i am so sorry for the delay. things are finally starting to settle down after the move" naturally I email her back saying "Can understand how things are, but at this point I'd really like to have my money back. Can understand with moving and all things get a bit hectic and your probably busy, I'd know I just moved myself. But just at this point I would appreciate being refunded."

January 6,2009
I get another email from her stating "remind me if i am wrong but was yours the body suit? I am afraid i cannot refund anymoney as all of it went into fur. Same if you are the otter. I havn't had a job for a year now so my savings is depleted and I just can't afford to refund any money. I promise to build you what you have ordered. And I am truely sorry for such a delay. It is unbecoming of a myself and I feel really bad about it." You can stand my frustrations now, I've waited for half a year for the suit that was said to be delivered in october, goes several months and still nada, so she emails me this next:

"alright here is what i can do. You are the otter I know that now i just looked at my records. I am willing to upgrade your fursuit commission into one that has a super Jaw head and, if you want, a body suit as well. I am very sorry for the delay. I am pretty sure I have enough fur that I ordered to make your suit into a full. If not I will order more as I don't think i am off on the tan but possibly the cream/white underbelly fur. So just let me know what you want to do."

So I think it over asked my mate about it at the time, he said to go for it, so I emailed her back saying "Don't get me wrong I know how things can be and I'm not mad :) know how jobs can be, and life can down right suck when ya don't have one, if you have enough fur to do a full body suit, I would be able to get you the measurements, what ever you would need, how much would it be for the moveable jaw?" She emails me the details and I'm like ok lets do this I still want the partial but I want the moving jaw, I even stated that I could possibly send her a bit extra for the trouble.. (never did) I message her a month later she states that she's working hard on the head and the base was completely done and that all she needed was a bit more time and she'd have the head done and would then start working on the Feetpaws and shoulder length arms and the tail. First time I heard her say that so I get a bit excited once again. So we continue contact, next email I get she says she's waiting on supplies but should have it done "soon" May comes around and I ask again, still waiting on supplies but should be in the following week and should have it done "soon"

June 6, 2009
I email her asking for any updates, saying that I just wanna make sure everythings going ok, cause honestly at this point the happy excited feelings worn off a long time ago and I'm starting to really feel screwed out of $500. She replies "yes sorry no updates just yet. i know it has been a long wait. I broke my hand a bit back and got delayed again. right now I am working on all AC commissions so they can be delivered there. After AC I will be focusing my full attention onto yours. I do greatly apologize for all these delays and I never wanted to make you or any of my other commissions wait this long."

I'm pissed off again, a year has gone by and she's working on NEW commissions for Anthrocon so she can make sure that they are there on time. So I let her know how annoyed I am, emailing her back stating

"I have to wonder now how many other commissions you've currently gotten, since I ordered mine last april and it was just a partial, I'm tired of waiting no offense, I really want my money back, I will not accept anything else, you promised that you could get me a partial fursuit by october, and never came thru saying it would be mid to late december, late december early january comes around and you haven't even started on it, so then you promise me a full suit with a moving jaw, yet its been months since that was promised. I don't care if its gone to supplies you can find another way of getting it, I don't want to have to take any further steps of getting the $500 back, but if need be I will =/ I would have just appreciated a "I can't do it, here's your money back" but instead it currently seems to me that you've just pretty much taken my $500 and just ran with it. This is the whole reason why I will not shop on furbuy or furbid again, and I'll gladly be explain the reasoning to them too."

She replied with this email "no i havn't taken your 500 and ran with it. Sorry for such a delay. I can still do your suit. I just finished up 4 commissions and was about to start yours along with another 3. I understand you are flustered and I do apologize. But i do not have money to pay you the money back. I have been without a job for over a year now and my savings is depleted. I do apologize for this and If you want I will pay you back what I can over time now that I have a job but I cannot pay it back all at once. Once again I do apologize and it was never my intent to do this, sometimes life just overtakes what you intend to do. "

I point out in my next email that she took 4 other commissions that apparently took more priority over mine which had already been half a year late, I send her my information, my address and email for paypal saying I wanna be refunded anyway possible. At this point, I was able to locate most of her accounts on Furaffinity, Deviantart, Livejournal as well as a few others, her Furaffinity I did notice about this time showed a full bodysuit she had finished for another person around the same time. (june 30, 2009)

June 30, 2009 3:02 PM
I get an email from her stating that she had a job and that all that she could do was send $100 at a time from her paycheck. I sent her an email back stating that I would accept payments.

July 26, 2009
I emailed her asking if she could give me an update. Getting super impatient now. She states that she'd send me a money order that coming friday and would make payments on paying me back.

September 7, 2010 11:58 PM
Earlier, I've been watching her FA and other accounts recently. She's taken more commissions, she's made tails, she bought a fursuit that was created by Mixed Candy which she had a FA journal post stating that she was selling it again journal was of course dated 3 months ago. (when she stated that she'd send me the money order) I confront her stating that I've seen that she's had the money obviously, buying fursuits and reselling them, taking commissions, going to cons (Anthrocon) emailed her saying "You obviously have the money, since I see your buying fursuits and reselling them. So I'm giving you one last chance, you have 2 weeks to return the $500 or I shall be escalating this issue. I've been far more then patient, and frankly I want my money back, no excuses. I mean honestly, I said ok to the whole $100 dollar payments, and you can't even do that. Its been 2 months since that and I have yet to see any check or any kind of refund. I don't want to hear your apologies either. You are completely unprofessional. "

she replies back with: "I have not been buying fursuits. I don't know where you have seen that. I also don't have the money yet. Every person who says they will buy the suit I have been trying to sell backs out on me. I am working as fast as I can to send you the money but I can't send you money I do not have. Please be patient."

I replied back with a lengthy email: "3 months ago you posted a journal on FA let me get the actual link too :) and no I've been patient. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1453507/ you said in said journal "

This is a 2008 mixed candy tiger fursuit. Orginally named Kataru Tiger his hair was longer, later named Ivan when came into my possession. Suit has been fully cleaned and is ready for his new home. Has a brand new tail and a fresh hair cut. The wig was in bad shape when it came to me so i washed it and trimed it to bring it back to life.

Partial includes
feet (will fig up to size 11 male shoes and is now able to have shoes installed for people with smaller feet)
Head (fully cleaned and aired out)
Hand Paws (also cleaned)
Legs (same)
Tail (newly made)

I would like to start taking offers on this. Bidding will go on till next Sunday the 12th at 9pm eastern time. Happy Bidding. "
you easily could have paid me back from that auction, and I'm sure mixed candy or the original owner of the suit didn't just give it away for free. :)

Also on your FA page, its nice to see you've made a new tail, http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3942255 when you couldn't even make my suit. I sent you all of my information a total of 3 times and you still weren't able to create the suit for me, but instead gave me excuse after excuse of why it couldn't be made. But you can go out and create tails and suits for your friends :D so please tell me why I should wait anymore. I'm honestly sick and tired of waiting. You said in your last email you also had a job, what happened there? Can you see why I'm pissed? Honestly? That was $500 out of my hard earned money and from my point of view it was just given away. What would happen if the tables were reversed? Would you not be pissed off and demanding it back? Would you not try to find anyway to get it back? I worked my ass off for that $500 to have it go down the toilet, and its fursuit commissioners like you that make me think I'll never be getting a suit done, so I have to say thank you for that :D

I gave you a deadline, you can get a loan for all I care, if I don't see something in 2 weeks I will be escalating this, no if's, and's or buts."

So ya there's my whole story, I'm still dealing with her currently, if anyone happens to come across her tauren suit, don't bid on it, she probably won't ship it to you. making one small update as well with some links http://sonartoo.deviantart.com/#/d2qfx4x

Could you please put this under an LJ-cut?

Any complaining about the lack of a cut under this comment will result in a warning.

Good grief. I mean, okay I've done *most* of the individual things she's done in there once or twice maybe, (losing measurements, forgetting which suit two people with similar names was getting, missing a deadline, etc.) but all that in the same commission? Multiple times each? Yikes! And I've never missed three deadlines in a row like that, or put new commissions ahead of people who've been waiting. That's just a mess, and a piss-poor way to run a business.

I'm so glad someone else posted something about her. I mean shes a nice girl but she needs to stop taking commissions until she learns some business ethic. I'm so sorry you had to go though all this. :(

I will agree she is very nice, she just needs to work on a number of things, it is just like I said to her however, it just makes me more cautious about commissioning now =/ just keep finding myself saying "am I gonna get screwed again"

You do realize by telling people not to buy the tauren suit you are stopping me from getting any money to give you. I am trying to get money to refund you and you are stopping all my chances by telling people to not buy something that is already made and ready to ship out.

You have a job?, I said you could have easily paid with payments but even that you haven't gone with, you can get a loan? you can sell things other then fursuits, I posted that comment also stating in seeing how long its taken you to get me my suit, you can easily turn around and do it to someone else. Like I said in my earlier comment, your a nice person however you need to work on work ethics, work on a commission when you get it, send it to the person before taking more commissions.

But it's also not cool to try and guilt trip this guy with your financial situation, when plenty of time and leeway have been given.

Totally agree with Pixie_Punch on this point.

Nor do I feel that fyre_fox should be blamed if the Tauren suit does not sell..especially if it's been a last resort for the last two months when they just made the post today.

Fyre, I just wanted to say that I think you've been amazingly mature through all this. Most people don't have half the patience you do, and even though you're angry, you aren't screaming or throwing a tantrum. I wish more people could be like that, I think it gets a lot more done. :3 Good luck on getting your money back.

Just one of the things I've learned, yell and screamin gets you nowhere. Just ends up with the person your trying to working with ignoring you and you never get anything fixed. ^_^

I hesitate to add my two cents, because she is a nice person and is always very friendly to me, but my experiences with her have been similar, though not nearly as extreme as yours.

I entered an art contest from her a few years back and won some custom handpaws... she saw my ref sheet I provided for the paws and said she wanted to do the whole partial for me for free. I was really excited, that was so cool! But then the 'free' ended up being at a cost anyway... first she asked for me to buy the green fur. No big deal, whatever. Then she asked for a bunch of conbadges and a ref sheet commission... I didn't really realize it wasn't "free". So it actually cost me about $250 in time and materials, which made me a paying customer at that point.
I had some trouble getting the suit, she missed two con deadlines (which I am not that horribly concerned over since it was still heavily discounted in price) and when I finally got it, it was very poorly made, the head being rather unwearable and frightening looking. I made back my time and effort revamping the suit and selling it on Furbid, but the whole experience kind of put a bad taste in my mouth. She also 'lost' my concept art several times through the commission and appeared utterly unorganized and somewhat bewildered. She also forgot some things on the ref sheet like claws, and made some of the parts too big, and the head way too small.

And last year I took on some simple badge trades. These were my $8 ky00t style badges, so I'm definitely not expecting anything super elaborate in return, just something cute and simple. It's been about a year now and even though I've inquired about the status of my badge a few times, I still haven't gotten it yet. Meanwhile she took on some more badge commissions, even though she's owed me for a year. :/ She's supposedly doing mine soon, so I'll amend my comment if I get the badge.

I find it suspect she's unable to refund people, she just bought a custom plush from me on eBay... It was only $20, but still, that's $20 that should have gone to refunding someone. That just doesn't sit right with me.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean here:

Then she asked for a bunch of conbadges and a ref sheet commission... I didn't really realize it wasn't "free"

It's not very clear. Do you mean she commissioned you for those, or demanded you commission her for those, or.. ?

Also, for the OP and anybody else who's ever considered commissioning a suit, there is this community: http://community.livejournal.com/fursuitreviews/

It's not an exhaustive resource yet, but more and more people are adding their experiences to it, so the list of builders featured is getting larger. If a builder doesn't have a review yet, I'd go hunt down some of their past customers and ask them in private how their commissioning experience was and how quality the product is. :) Through this individual contact of people, I figured out who I wanted to commission for mine!

Posting since I haven't got an update about my head base from her since the last thread that was posted. It was a trade and this was my part which was sent; http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3279728/
She is usually very polite, but again doesn't keep contact at least in my case.

I hate saying bad things but i don't recommend anyone going to her for work.

I live in the same state and know her to a good extent.

Me and her worked out a little deal for me to have a suit

after about a year i just finished almost everything myself.
All she did was most of the head..had another fursuit maker shave it down and all everything else. And now that suit is out of working order due to the head being poorly made.

Shes nice to talk to but her work ethic is the worst out there

There is a huge list of ppl that has not recieved things from suits to art etc.

If she stop playing with all her boy toys maybe she would get something done.
