A sweet seeming girl who does pretty work, its hard to not want to help her when she posts her 'Help, I need money, commission me." posts. However, she seems to have a large problem finishing them and staying in communication with her commisioners. Her money problems are never solved. Despite being unemployed for the better part of the year, next to nothing has come out of her artwise. Only appologies for being slow and more requests for people to commission her.

I point out her latest journal on June 22, 2010.  http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1497946/ It is copied below in case it gets removed.

While one can appreciate her honesty to a certain level here...

She lists no less then 40 commissions in her queue, most of which have been sitting there for years. And admits she has more that she owes to people not posted on that list. And still she opens slots for nine more people to give her money... For the experience of waiting anywhere from months to years on that list. Many people have assumed she simply stopped being involved in the fandom, but she's constantly commenting on FA. I think she answers the actual question herself on one of her pictures "I'm just busy and lazy."

At her current rate of finishing artwork, 2 pieces every five months, we should expect to see this list finished sometime in her lifetime, but probably not mine. :)~

So this is an Artist Beware. Consider your money a donation to support her lifestyle. You might one day get a surprise art piece in return from her, but this will be years after its no longer relevant.

Anonymously posted in the hopes that one day I can get my art from this person.

I might open up more slots later, or I might not. I might delete some or all open slots if I feel overwhelmed. I'm still working on other stuff that I owe too. I'm mostly curious about demand, and wanted to be able to offer a couple of each thing.

Other uploads/updates are on the way.

If you're waiting on commission progress from me, the info in my journal footer (below) is always up-to-date, and I'll definitely contact you individually as I have news or questions. You're always welcome to email me if you have concerns.

You need to fix your LJ cut and I recommend actually putting the artist's name somewhere.

Unfortunately the LJ cut didn't work quite like you had hoped?

EDIT: I've tagged the entry with the artist's name, but like kalya_la said, please put the name in there somewhere.

Please do not comment with 'cut plz' comments.

Are mods/admins not able to edit entries? I know they can edit tags, but they can't edit the entries themselves?

Edit: Sorry, I don't mean to come off rude. The OP should fix it, of course. I'm just curious. I see this "fix please" from a mod, and when it's something as small as a missing < in the post, it seems odd. So I'm asking just for my own burning question, not meaning anything by it.

Yo, Clay, chill. They messed up the tag, they tried to cut it. It's a simple mistake. A threat really isn't necessary. I know it's long, but come on.

On the actual *topic* of this post... it drives me CRAZY when people do this. Taking commissions at a hugely higher rate than they're finishing them, and continuing to do so after getting years' worth just... ugh. A friend of mine does this and it makes me want to shake her.

And okay she's "honest". Sort of. Saying "Be warned, I might take awhile to finish things." way down at the bottom of the post, nowhere near the part where she's opening slots and asking for money is... not really that honest. And it's not like she explicitly points out that she has years' worth of stuff in her queue. Not actually *that* honest, imho.

Oh, Scully.. I commissioned her in 2004.. It wasn't completed 2 years later so I asked for a refund, but in her defense she was VERY polite and kind about it and gave me back the full amount, even though by that time, the inks and flat colours were done.. It's a shame she's being mentioned here, her artwork is gorgeous :(

aawww, her stuffs realy really nice

slightly off topic, but i comissioned loads recenntly-ish, from veriouse people and all of it seems to be taking ages. not a matter of years though

i hope shes around because i'd like to hear why this is happening ^^

Commissioners tend to have a different idea of 'taking ages' than the artists do. They tend to assume they're the only person the artist is working for.

On the flip side, I've had a rash of commissioners lately who've only bothered to wait a few days before starting to poke me about their commission, proceeding to pester me about it every few days. There's really no reason to contact an artist about it more than once or twice a month, max. It's not like most of them aren't going to let you know when they have something to show you, so I never really understood it past checking to make sure they haven't forgotten once in a while.

That's sad =( I commissioned This awesome badge from her and she did it in a timely fashion.

RL must be beating her up =( (Not a FLAWLESS excuse for overloading your workload, but you know what i mean)

And I feel you on the frustration. I've been waiting on two artists for pieces for over two years now.

By the same token, the person obviously isn't lying about the length of time for work from this artist, a cursory check of their gallery shows large gaps between submissions.

The journal is also the artist's own words. So it's obvious there's an issue here.

Also given the recent issues with artists trying to blackmail/bully/abuse people who have posted here, it's actually understandable why someone might choose to remain anonymous. (Hell one artist posted about five months ago is still going around slagging off the person who posted about her)

does she owe you something?

normally people have a specific complaint when they post here.

edit: ah, i see where you threw that in.

i am assuming contacting her didn't work, then?

If she's been responding to the OPs contact attempts like she'd been responding to my fiance, then contacting her probably didn't work. He didn't get a response from her, either from IM or email, until she was warned that he would post her here if he didn't get an update on the commission from FurFright '08.

Am I the only person who's getting tired of seeing these "help I need money for (insert reason here)! Commission me plz!" deals? It's like FA has become some sort of charity place lately because I see several journals a week where either an artist is posting about how they are in a bind and need money or an artist has a friend who is in a bind and they need money. I know times are tough and everything, but I wonder how many other of these "help me!" artists take on way too many commissions in a desperate situation like this Scully person seems to have.

No, you're not. In fact that's the reason I don't talk about personal stuff if I can help it, it kind of rankles though when I see someone get tonnes of commissions because they wailed about how they needed something right nao or they would omg die.

Most "emergency commission" journals turn out to be a poor bet with artists often not completing the work for ages if they do it at all.

Scully and Fossil are going through a bit of rough times at the moment.. I don't know if it helps but I did tell Fossil about this and he said he would talk to Scully.

She may take her time but in the end her art is worth the wait!

I also know that my post here more then likely doesn't help in anyway possible but I just wanted to give my very small 2 cents!
