Honestly, I joined this community because I keep getting screwed on trades, but I figured this trouble I'm having with a commission is good enough to post.

I commissioned this person in early January. It was only a $10 lineart piece, but after I gave them my money, they REFUSE to acknowledge my existence. All the notes I have sent them are marked as read, so they are just flat out ignoring me. I am trying to not make this overly personal or offensive, but it's just bad business all the way around, especially since they are continually putting out personal art and apparently have such a large commission list.

As I said, I commissioned them back in January. I've commissioned a lineart/sketch of my character and gave them complete artistic freedom otherwise. The first time I asked about it was in March. I was very polite and just asked if they had me on the list since the other 2 journals with commission lists didn't have me on them. I left a shout, hoping he might reply to me that way. Finally I sent a longer note to him giving him the transaction number as proof of purchase, but still nothing. I made a journal in a last attempt to contact him. No replies yet, but I'm hoping posting here might ALSO resolve the issue. Here's a link to the journal with more thorough coverage of the account:

This is my first time ever having an issue with a commission. I've waited longer for less, but at least when I asked about it, I was given an answer. Seriously, this guy is blatantly ignoring me.

EDIT 1: He sent me THIS note last night:
Sent By: Beowulf On: May 31st, 2010 09:03

I have read your journal and would like to resolve this issue with you.

Call me at your earliest convenience, please. This will go much smoother and more swiftly if we talk rather than through PMs or IMs, which I loathe for all the time they take. These days more than ever, I have so little to spare, anyhow. >.<

My cell is ****************

Once we're done talking, either you can send me a PM with a description of what you'd like done and completed within the week, or I can refund you after this weekend. That way, there's at least something documented in terms of trackable current 'paperwork' and data being shuffled between us.

*deep breath, exhale* I'm deeply sorry for having let this escape me for as long as it has. I've been busier than I've yet ever been in my life since I'd started up my webcomic and things that arent immediately under my nose tend to either get put on the backburner or completely lost to mnemonic oblivion. No excuse for letting this slip, for indeed, money is money and business is business... But I'm just letting you know why out of courtesey.

I did not reply to his note, I sent him this text message: Heyo, this is Yashendwirh from FA. I hope you don't mind a text. I'm on a plan with my fiance and he needs all the minutes we can spare to talk with his students. Thanks so much for responding back to me. I understand how busy life can get and how messy the note systems were and then with the revamp and all.

However, if you scroll down in the comments here, you'll see he's done a complete 180. If you compare his response to the info I provided in my journal, you can see he also didn't actually READ my journal, rather just skimmed over it. It seems to me like he was just trying to do damage control and wasn't genuinely concerned with the issue.

I just don't know how to feel about it anymore other than I was indeed purposefully blown off and when he realised I posted here, he retracted his attempts at delivering good customer service. If he was concerned with his reputation, he would have noted my journal says at the top that I was going to remove the journal and edit this entry if/when the issue was resolved. I've been convinced otherwise with his most recent response.

I will keep updating this as action is taken, should it be taken. I am still willing to edit my journal and entry here should a proper response be taken and the issue resolved.

EDIT 2: He deleted his post here but someone is providing me with a screenshot of it if anyone doesn't know what the f all the comments below are about.

ALSO he just now sent me a text message (1:25 pm Tuesday June 1) saying that he will refund me on Monday, so I'm considering the issue resolved. Until next time loves. Thanks so much for your support all. <3

I haven't yet been to a con though I have made plans to go to next years FC, so I doubt I'll actually be seeing him face to face.

I'm also having some unresolved issues with him. I'm currently waiting on a refund for a commission I ordered over 2.5 years ago and have seen no progress on.

Holy hell that's a long time to be waiting on something!

they posted a comment on your journal about 3 hours ago.

Hope it gets resloved...you should have to wait a YEAR + for lineart.
Jun. 1st, 2010 05:56 pm (UTC)
I saw. I was hoping for a resolution as well.

And I -SHOULD- have to wait a year+ to get lineart? Really?

Wow, that's crazy. :( I commissioned him for a sketchbook piece at FC, and got it within 48 hours.

I'm sorry you're having such a problem... I guess it's a crapshoot with some artist. I hope you get your art!

Why are you getting so upset? It's been 4-5 months since the commission and to the OP, it seemed like you were just ignoring hers while posting new artwork up. And waiting longer for less to her: maybe the other artists didn't read and ignore the PMs (granted, I don't know how many PM's she sent and how often she sent them).

Yeah, life gets in the way of things, but instead of coming here to throw a stink fit about it, why not just apologise and give her what you owe?

I do want to note (as we've had problems with this in the past) that if you get this resolved and go to edit your entry, please leave the original text. We're fine with people editing in that the issue was taken care of and we'll also tag it as resolved, but we want to avoid people simply deleting the entirety of the entry (or striking through the whole thing) to say 'This was resolved!'. History is important and shouldn't be erased.
Jun. 1st, 2010 07:23 pm (UTC)
Oh yeah, all my edits will be in color and I will note where I edit it. I'm not going to delete the original text where I said I was having an issue, because I -did- have the issue. And it should be known since going about it privately wasn't resolving any of my problems, after-all.

Is this on the page rules? I definitely think it should be! I agree that history shouldn't be erased. What's done is done and it can't be taken back, even if the issue is eventually resolved.

Wow, I came in late, and it looks like I missed a little "party". What did Beowulf's deleted comment say? The bits people quoted look bad enough, but I like to know as much of the original text as possible when I'm setting up to blacklist someone!

It said:

I'm not ignoring you, I just have a life, and sometimes shit falls through the cracks. And I find it quaintly hilarious that you admit you've waited longer for less, and still make a big stink about this.

And BY THE WAY, I sent you a PM last night on FA shortly after you noted me, within an hour or 2 of doing so. So you really felt you needed to fly off the handle after I finally acknowledged your presence? Real cute.

I was originally going to talk with you about QUICKLY wrapping this up today or tomorrow, but I'm not so sure I care anymore, if this is how you're going to act. Really, for the price of 2 Subway footlongs? You could have just IM'd me instead of throwing a piss-fit tantrum.

Well, I sent him a warning for deleting his comment, and he replied back with thus:

Oooh, A FORMAL warning. You should have given me a moment's prior notice, I would have worn my top hat and cane for the occasion. Mighta even broken out my monocle, I'm so excited.

The situation is resolved. Fuck you.

So future commissioners, take his professionalism as you will, between his reaction to me and his (now deleted but reposted) comment above.

OMF. That's all I can say to that. Oh well. It just makes me feel better for the obviously superior customer service I provide ;3 Thanks for the contribution and reposting his comment and this response.
