First post, deadbeat furbid bidder

So, this epic of mine started back on December 20, when Marjory_warrenne used "buy it now" on Furbid to end an auction of mine. Great! I was pleased because I had made my full retail price, rather than having to settle for the lower auction opening price. I sent her off an email with standard payment information, and didn't think anything of it.
Almost immediately, she replies telling me that (apparently before bidding, mind you), her wallet had been stolen, a bunch of cash was gone, and her bank card was gone. She offered to go to the bank to get a money order, and I said that would be fine. I email her that I will hold the item for seven days, which is my standard practice, and that if payment isn't received by then, the item will be relisted. Her next email reply says that she can't go to the bank for some reason, even after she just offered to. Now she says she gets paid on Friday, so I have to wait until then. Fine, okay, I can wait, we're still within the first week after the auction, but I'm getting a little irritated because I had some kind of weird conception that "buy it now" means actually "buying it now." Friday passes, it's the holiday weekend, I don't send any emails, and on Monday, I send out another batch of reminders to all of my winning auction bidders, and this time Marjory_warrenne tells me that she's sorry, she just had the nerve to break up with her abusive boyfriend, but she'll go to the bank tomorrow. Alright, now it's getting epic.
So, as usual, more days go by, and I email again, today's excuse is that she just had a 24 hour flu, so she's been busy with dealing with that stuff. Now she offers to add $5 to the auction ending price, for my trouble. That was 5 days ago, and I haven't heard from her since.
The item has since been relisted, and if payment does come in, I'll make another of the fleece hat she wanted, but I'm not holding my breath.

It makes for a grumbly Maly, it does.

I hate when that happens.

hey, just so you know, I'm interested in comissioning a hat from you... I don't actually have any money right now, but I'm getting a large settlement from an accident I had soon, so I was wondering if you were okay with making a sepp hat sometime in the future? :3

Scary community for talking about a commission, but yeah, sure, I can make a Sepp hat. You're welcome to use one of my templates to color/edit, or you can send me a sketch via email whenever you're ready. No hurries, since all I do is make hats, this isn't a limited time offer (unlike "buy it now" on an auction!).

aww I don't mean to scare you :(
I'll get to work on the hat template... how much do you think it will cost? it might be a little complex, so upping the price is fine.

I'm quite interested too! So they usually sell for $35? Thats about £17 right?

I swear I didn't mean this as a plug for my hats! *g*
I checked xe.com (a currency exchanger) and it says that $35USD = $18.65GBP, so you were close. I take paypal, money orders, and well-concealed cash. If you ended up with one of my hats, you'd be the second person on that side of the pond to have one of my hats, with bubblerat being the first with a bright pink on pink kitty hat. :3
