Almost immediately, she replies telling me that (apparently before bidding, mind you), her wallet had been stolen, a bunch of cash was gone, and her bank card was gone. She offered to go to the bank to get a money order, and I said that would be fine. I email her that I will hold the item for seven days, which is my standard practice, and that if payment isn't received by then, the item will be relisted. Her next email reply says that she can't go to the bank for some reason, even after she just offered to. Now she says she gets paid on Friday, so I have to wait until then. Fine, okay, I can wait, we're still within the first week after the auction, but I'm getting a little irritated because I had some kind of weird conception that "buy it now" means actually "buying it now." Friday passes, it's the holiday weekend, I don't send any emails, and on Monday, I send out another batch of reminders to all of my winning auction bidders, and this time Marjory_warrenne tells me that she's sorry, she just had the nerve to break up with her abusive boyfriend, but she'll go to the bank tomorrow. Alright, now it's getting epic.
So, as usual, more days go by, and I email again, today's excuse is that she just had a 24 hour flu, so she's been busy with dealing with that stuff. Now she offers to add $5 to the auction ending price, for my trouble. That was 5 days ago, and I haven't heard from her since.
The item has since been relisted, and if payment does come in, I'll make another of the fleece hat she wanted, but I'm not holding my breath.
