Lost Contact: Anthrocon 2013

I'm making this entry in the hopes of finding an artist.  On the last day of AC, my husband commissioned someone in Artist Alley. I was sitting in artist alley, so I never saw the artist.  Apparently this artist had some really nice traditional/digital pieces that were of armor, more than likely Warhammer 40K armor.  My husband is a bit of a scatterbrain, so he only mentioned this to me today, and I told him I'd see if I could find the artist. He doesn't remember a name, he doesn't remember anything except that it was the last day and the person was in Artist Alley.

I know it's a long shot, but maybe someone here might know who this person is. I know there's not many artists who do the really detailed Warhammer armor commissions, so hopefully there are not that many it could be.

Thanks for any help.

Edit: I'm told now that it wasn't Warhammer armor, it was more medieval armor. And the commission was traditional, not a mix of both.

No response has been given at all since 8/9/2013 and it's been a month since our payment.

We sent the user the following warning;

and of course here we are now. They've taken our money and run without any explanation or attempt to communicate. Basically, they've robbed us.

A post was also made here asking for suggestions;

So there you go. Do the judging yourself.

Current Mood:irritated

As of Friday, October 18th at least this is the current status of princeprince's FA page; so yeah.. took our money and ran.. this is pretty cut and dry robbery/dishonesty, the user's undoubtedly moved to a new account possibly to do the same thing again.

Artist Beware: Somber (FA)

WHO: Somber

WHAT: I commissioned her for a fully done DIGITAL couple piece to be done as a gift for a friend. Which means this it was to be fully rendered - Two characters, full color and shades and background.

WHEN: Payment was sent up-front. I paid her the full payment of $30.00 on August 31, 2013.

EXPLAIN: She and I have been friends for a while and I had asked her if it'd be alright to commission her for a gift I wanted to get for a friend. She agreed to do it and told me to send the payment of $30.00 to her. And just out of the blue today she told me she could not do my commission. I asked her why and she stated "I have my reasons" so I said I understood, but still I was baffled. I had asked for my money back since she didn't even go as far as a rough sketch. She said "I don't do refunds." Then I found out she took offense because I do not like what she likes. I do not agree that personal likes should affect what you're paid to do from a client. And I honestly think it's unfair for me that I cannot be refunded my money. $30 to most people IS a large chunk out of their wallets - in this case, MY wallet. I then went to file a dispute on Paypal, but they were unable to do it. So, now I'm out $30.00 and nothing that came out of it.

EDIT: She has refunded my 30. Please tag as resolved.

Advice on re-using canceled artwork

Hello again A-B,

I think I've managed to get myself into an awkward position and need some advice on how to deal with this.
I ended a fairly big raffle about a month ago where the first prize was a full colored and shaded image, with background and up to 3 characters. I notified the winner and it went fairly well, it would be a mature image of the winner and the winners partner.

Everything went smoothly, but after I had finished the background and started on the characters I got a note from the partner(I had talked with this person and the drawing was agreed to), however they had broken up the day before and no longer wanted the image, but I could finish it an post it if I wanted.

I then noted the winner to ask, but he really did not want the image finished and asked for a new one instead. He offered that I could make the almost finished image into a YCH auction so I didn't loose time from working on it. I did make him a new image in the detail I promised for the 1st prize, but I have not touched the unfinished one after this.

A part of me wants to make this into a YCH auction so I can at least get something back for the time I lost, but at the same time I know both of the original image is watching me and have seen WIP's of it with their characters. I know the partner wouldn't mind, and the winner was the one with the YCH idea, but it just feels really awkward to put it out for offer - so what I need advice on is if I should just go ahead and edit it to a YCH or accept it as lost time and move on?

some additional but not super important info/questions;
The raffle had in total 6 prizes, so the remaking of the 1st one made delays for the rest.

This was my first Raffle and I have never done a YCH so I'm nervous on how it will be received by my watchers

Would this be different if this was a commissioned piece where the commissioner would get a new piece of art instead of a refund?
