Edit 3: This is resolved.  I finished the commission and he replied explaning what had happened. I learned I was acting wrongly and am glad people here made me realize this. Both the commissioner and I are happy ^^ 

This isn't so much as beware as that I don't know what to do.

I don't like having to chase people around for info.

Buyer Beware- DominoDingo

 EDIT- Received head today. There are some issues with it, but at least I got it. Still would not recommend doing business with him unless you're willing to wait a couple of months for your item.

As much as I hate to post on here, I think it's now necessary.

At first he was quick to respond to my emails, but it went quickly down hill. He told me he would give me the shipping cost BEFORE that following Monday, but didn't until a few days later (only after I emailed him multiple times asking.) I finally had sent the payment, and this was REGRETFULLY a money order since my Paypal was not working at the time.

After not having any contact with him for a week or so, I emailed him again asking if he had received my money order- apparently it had been damaged due to the rain, but he ended up getting the cash anyways. He said he would have it shipped out ASAP, and this is on the 6th of June.

Another couple of weeks pass, and on the 21st I get a response to an email I sent him asking if he had ever gotten around to shipping it, and requesting a tracking number. Another excuse was made, quote "I've had problem after problem with my internet connection and switching to my new laptop. Now that everything is situated, please, send your address again so I can send the head out ASAP" followed by an apology about the wait and saying in another email sent shorty after that he'd have it out tomorrow (June 22nd.) This, of course, did not happen.

I email him again on the 28th making sure he sent it, and then the next night he said he had finally shipped it (So it went out on the 29/30th, NOT the 22nd.)

I've emailed him again regarding this issue and have not had any reply- It's been nearly ten days later and it is STILL not here, and I'm honestly afraid that I got ripped off.

Am I just being impatient, or does this sound fishy to the rest of you? Is there any way I can get refunded for this? :/

This is kinda simple but I'm a little puzzled as to what I should do.

This past weekend I had a table in Connecticon's Artist Colony. I was selling $5 custom I.D. badges along with buttons and other junk. I took orders for them by having people fill out the bottom (which has a list of things like Name, Favorite Character/Pairing, etc.), I would take a picture of them, and work accordingly. Most people paid up front while others paid when they came to pick up the badge and, by my own fault, I didn't keep track of who paid and who didn't.

Somewhere in the craziness of the weekend and the long queue for the badges, I missed reconnecting with three customers and left the weekend with their finished orders. If they paid for them, which I assume they did, I'd like to be able to refund them or mail the badges to them (or both). I didn't get real names or any way to contact them, though. I also don't know what to do with their orders now...I can't reuse the materials and I can't resell them or anything.

So far I've put up a post on the convention forums hoping that there's a slim chance they read them, but the forums themselves seem kind of bare so I don't think that will go very far. I'm just really really trying to avoid any possible chance that people think I purposely took their money and didn't give them their order. :/

Furbrications update!

So as many of you probably already know, on 6/14 I won Furbrications' auction for the "realistic canine head". The auction closed at $305.
After shipping was determined, I sent my full $315 payment to her on Paypal (yes, she DID violate terms of service by telling me to send it as a personal payment, but that's not the important thing here.) Paypal made me pay their fee for doing a personal payment, so my final total was $324.44

After I paid, she was supposed to ship the head ASAP, since that's the way the auction thing is supposed to work.

Today (7/12) I received the following two messages from Furbrications, after sending her two messages a week apart asking for a refund and explaining why I needed it (long story short, the money I had available a month ago is now desperately needed due to suddenly being kicked out of my house....I HAD the money; I just need it back....My other reason for trying for a refund was all the horrible reviews here, and I didn't want to have my money basically stolen.)

Here's the first message:
"shit. I wish I'd checked LJ sooner. I just sent it out today with a bunch of other things cause money i'd been waiting on took longer than expected.  If you care, i've got a tracking number. There was a family emergency on the fourth involving fireworks and I havent been able to much of anything lately, so, i'm sorry about that."

And here's the second:
"I got to your second message just now, and I feel bad about the moving out thing. I can send you some money back now to help with that, but I'm stupidly tight on funds myself too after the accident.
I've got about $150 I can send your way now give or take."

Obviously, she has responded to my messages, which is good. She hasn't yet sent me the partial refund she promised, so I'll give that some time. Things are starting to look up a bit, and hopefully this whole issue will be resolved soon. I'm not going to say I'm not making it difficult, because I know how "frowned upon" refunds are in the fandom....but the bad reviews made me realize that I was very unwilling to wait and risk never receiving what I had paid for. I'll keep you guys posted on where it goes from here, but maybe I wasn't being ignored after all! :)

Edit (7/14): She has very generously offered to send me "something cool" to make up for this whole thing. I'm not expecting much, but she did say she has blank foam heads, so it'll probably be one of those. She already knows I'll be re-selling the canine head on furbid, but she still offered to send me something else...it's up to her, I guess! I appreciate the offer, to say the least. :)

Update on Furbrications

So a few days ago I sent an open letter to Furbrications along with a paypal money request for a refund.

Today, Furbrications paid that refund request.

The refund had a short note saying "sorry bout the badge," and even though that's short and sweet (good enough for me personally), I'm happy she at least said that regarding the situation.

I'm sure at some point this will get read by the appropriate people, and my goal of writing this is so you will hopefully learn from past mistakes, so I'll just close by saying communication would have satisfied me. Regardless even if you hadn't even started my commission 6 months down the line, just acknowledging me and being honest would have earned far more kudos from me than just no communication. If you are honest and upfront with your clients, it will take you a long way. No excuses, No games, just be real with it.
