wait... wut?

Ok, so getcoloringbooks.com just informed me that I've only earned $1.60 so far and is not yet enough to send me payment. They want to wait to send me $ until I've earned $20.

Guys, seriously, should I consider telling them to take my book down? I've had a bad feeling for a while now (since they told me the artists only get 10% of the profit).

Alot of publishers have only a 10% royalty unless you really pay up the ass for larger ones. When you gave your art to use on their site you probably agreed to this term. Depending on the terms they may not let you take the book down.

Have you read over the details and fine print in the terms and conditions? They can be quite decieving.

Wow, that sounds like junk... =( I know nothing about publishing and the way royalties work/*should* work, so I don't really have any advice for you, but blah... good luck!

Don't know about the royalties part, but almost every site I can think of that handles money transfers or lets you earn money has a minimum of $20-$40 before they'll send you a check or a bank transfer due to the cost to them / fees involved.

It's actually pretty standard to withhold funds until a mimimum has been reached due to costs, fees and ease of transaction. I think Cafepress has a $20 minimum as well (my memory could be failing me here though), and 10% is a reasonably standard royalty - book authors often get in the range of 6-8% royalty on their own books from trade publishers and 15% of that total goes to their agents, so 10% is pretty reasonable. Most publishers also only dole out royalty checks for regular earnings at the rate of usually twice a year, or once every quarter at best.

If you're not comfortable with it, depending upon their ToC, I'd say should be able to get them to take down your book, but you may forfeit the monies owed, being that it's such a small amount.

DeviantArt also has a minimum of $20 before they'll send you money off prints.

Good luck though. *hugs*

Weeellll... most of that sounds pretty standard, although I do have one pause: are you getting 10% of the profits, like, after expenses, or the proceeds, as in, people have so far paid the place a total of $16 for your work?
