Commercial usage question

I would appreciate it very much if I could get some advice from you.

I am in talks with an artist to commission a comic. The comic would be around 15-25 pages and I am considering buying the commercial usage rights. I have bought commercial illustrations before, but never tried to do anything like purchase the rights to a comic. The artist and I are discussing options and would like to see what others think.

What would be a fair way of pricing something like this?
Hourly/daily rate?
Commercial price by the page?
Or a commercial price that takes into account the overall work?

Howdy! I approved this, but it also might help with options if we know why you want the rights. Will this be a project that will be published all at once or page by page?

It would be published all at once.

I personally have the artist let me know what they charge per page (Increased price due to commercial use) and pay that price. This feels like an easier route for me. Prices range...it's usually how the artist feels about their work. I know I personally charge Around the $150+ range per page for comic work.
