WHAT: It was the “Ramen Beast YCH” they posted on FA here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16721082/ The finished artwork was to be fully rendered/painted in their usual style. I won the auction and paid the $80 via Paypal.

WHEN: The auction was won on June 3rd and the payment was sent the same day.

EXPLAIN: I was the highest bidder and won the auction for $80 dollars. I provided the details by email and sent the payment the same day. On June 8th they emailed me a completed headshot I commissioned before this one and left a note saying that the YCH shouldn’t take too much longer. On July 10th I sent a follow up email asking for an update on it. CaptainHanni responded to on July 29th saying that they’ve had a hard time drawing lately. Completely understandable and not a big deal. Attached to the email was also a progress screenshot.

September 26 rolls around and I still haven’t received the completed art. I sent another email asking if they could try to squeeze me to the top of their priority list. They’ve been posting art on Tumblr and I was hoping they could find some time to finish my YCH. Didn’t get a response. I sent a note to them on FA on October 14th basically repeating what I mentioned in the email. That has never been read. Finally, I sent one last email on October 24th asking them if they want to finish or give a partial refund for the art, and you could probably guess that they never responded to that either.

I would put a claim through paypal but some work was already done. If they would just respond to my email we could work out a partial refund... or they could just, you know, finish it.

Im not sure if it's you, or LJ, but can you (or a mod) set the text back to a normal size? It's hard to read with bad eyesight.


I would do the paypal claim. DO NOT cancel it until you get the art or a refund. Dont count on 'promises'. Once it goes through, send them back a partial payment for the work done.

Moderators can't edit posts. They'll have to edit the post and repaste the html in plaintext.

Sorry, I said I could see it just fine and since I'm visually impaired and sometimes use reading aids I'm the mod team's go-to for "Is this readable?" :P

Sorry about that! I typed it up in another program and copy-pasted when submitting the article. I didn't realize the font was so small.

I repasted it in html so it should be easier to read now. :P

Howdy OP!

This was readable on our end, but we want to make sure everyone can read this. Can you do me a favor and please open your post in the editor, select all, copy, and then hit ctrl+shift+v? That should fix your text.

If that doesn't work, paste it into notepad and then copy that, and then repaste it here. LJ does funny things with its formatting sometimes.

Okay as a regular user now:

Man it sure is a shame that they're not responding to you. The art itself is cute as a button, and their style is very nice.

You are nearing your deadline for a dispute. I'd say open it and escalate it to a claim. You can send money to the artist for the work they DID complete. Maybe the dispute notice will get them moving to respond to you. But do not close it, because you won't be able to reopen it!

I know, right. The art is incredibly cute and I've been looking forward to it but the lack of communication stinks.

I think I'll do what you and teekchan said and start the Paypal claim. I just wasn't 100% sure if it would be appropriate when they already made decent progress on it, but it sounds like we could work out a partial refund in the end if it came to that.

Still, I prefer that they just finish it if they can!
